Affordable Venue...Please help!!!

Hello B2B!

I am recently engaged and am planning on getting married June 2012.
My fiance and I are going to be paying for our wedding so, I am looking for affordable venues. I recently saw the Sheraton in Mahwa and liked the venue however $150 pp ++ is bit out of our range.

Does anyone have any suggestions for North Jersey venues?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

       Well do you know what your price range is? I just did the entire tour of north jersey trying to find something under $ 120 (on a friday in September), but with taxes and the service fees, we just couldn't swing it. We ended up look downing the shore area, and finding of a ton of great venues for great prices. BUT that's not to put you off, I'm sure there are deals to be had, especially if you are able to go just a little higher then we where, and can be flexible with your date (June's always going to expensive, but as I just found out so is September haha who knew?!) So let everyone know your pp price and how many people and I bet you'll get a bunch of suggestions! 
    Oh- and The Tides I hear is a fabulous, reasonable venue! Just something to start you off with!

    We are going to have our wedding at The Manor in West Orange.
    The place is beautiful!!!
    Wedding one Fridays and Sunday have lower rate. We are having our on a Friday night.

    Ideally I would like $50 to $75pp, but I doubt that is realistic; keeping fingers crossed.

    We are most liking going to have 150 ppl.

    The other reason for an affordable venue is b/c I want a band so, I am willing to make sacrafices (music is important to me, I love to dance! )

    Bretton Woods Mansion was $85 pp, the Manor was also one of the cheapest.  Panatagis, La Affaire, Gran Centurians, The Kenilworth Inn are even less...

    Check the Graycliff i went to a wedding there this summer and it was the best wedding I have ever been to. I know they are less than 100.

    For a Friday night in July, with a 170 person minimum, The Graycliff quoted me $89pp + 7% tax, 18% gratuity and 4% maitred fee.  The only place I know of in northern NJ that is $50-$75 pp is The Fiesta in Woodridge.  You could also try The Grand Chalet in Wayne and I think there is an affordable place in Little Ferry, but the name is escaping me at the moment.  HTH

    Gran Centurions in Clark is very affordable. I believe it was 50-60 pp before tax and gratuity.

    The Bridgewater Manor has a Saturday afternoon package for 71 pp before tax and gratuity. Gratuity is only 8% so it comes to 80-85 pp total.

    I'm having my reception at Ravello's in Easthanover and the price seems very fair. I'm getting Married on May 12,2012 which is a Saturday night and It seems very fair for a Sat. In peak season. They are great to work with. GL

    My reception was at The Tides in North Haledon, and it was $80pp for a Saturday night in April (not counting tax and gratuity/service charges, which put it up near $102pp in the end).

    We got similar quotes from Costa Del Sol in Union, The Empire Club in Little Ferry, and Bridgewater Manor (they run a lot of deals where you can get packages in the ~$70 price range, and their gratuity charge is only 8% whereas most NJ venues charge between 15-20%).

    Do you know what dates you would want? You will probably get the best deals in December-March. The Tides quoted us $65pp for a Friday night in March. Prices start going back up around Easter. Fridays and Sundays, and Saturday afternoons, are usually cheaper than Saturday nights at most places. If you're doing an off-season date, try Perona Farms in Andover, and Mayfair Farms, The Manor and The Atrium which are all in West Orange.

    I've heard that The Forge in Woodbridge is in the price range you quotes. Also try Gran Centurions in Clark. Maybe try Perona Farms in Andover. Plus look into The Reception Center at St. Clement in Matawan - their food and cakes are supposed to be really tasty. Someone a while back said that she got a good price on a buffet dinner at The Restaurant in Hackensack (I would try other restaurants in your area, too, since they tend to be cheaper than reception halls). Someone else here a few years ago said she paid about $50-60 per person for a Saturday afternoon reception at The Riverview Pavilion in Belmar - open bar, passed hors d'oeuvres, fruit/veggie/cheese stationary platters, a few hot chafing dishes and a carving station, plus cake and cookies.

    I inquired over e-mail with The Hilton in Hasbrouck Heights, and the banquet manager (Tanya) was really great about negotiating with me. She put together a package that was $90pp (including tax and gratuity) for a Saturday night in March 2010 ... 8 hors d'oeuvres, a pasta station and a cold antipasta station for cocktail hour; open bar wine/beer/lower-shelf liquors; and for dinner a pasta starter course, a salad, a chicken and beef duet entree, the wedding cake and a chocolate fountain. I never went to see the place so IDK what it looks like, but $90 inclusive for all that seems like a pretty good deal. http://www.hiltonhasbrouckheights.com/weddings/

    We had our wedding at the Excelsior in Saddle Brook everything was great people are still talking about our wedding a year later. It was very affordable.

    The Primavera Regency in Stirling with taxes and gratiuities on a Friday was $110 per person - Saturdays were probably about $15-20 more on average a person.  This may be a little more then you want to spend, but for venues we viewed with equivalent pricing, you were offered so much more here.

    I just had my wedding there last month and would highly recommend it.  People have called and sent cards saying what a great time they had, and the food and service was phenominal! 

    You get a lot included in your package - cocktail hour, dinner entree selection, table linens, napkins, centerpieces, your cake and they have beautiful grounds in which you can have your ceremony outside.  We did that and it was great!

    I  had a garden wedding, brunch reception on Sunday, 5-30-10.  at the Ramsey Golf & Country Club....POSITIVELY AWESOME!!!!  It looks like a small stone countryside castle!  Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

    My guests are still raving about the food, and how much there was! The cocktail hour was unbelievable, and brunch included omelette station as well as 2 carving stations PLUS several other hot and cold selections.

     Michael T. is the catering manager and he is AMAZING!!!  I CANNOT say enough good things about Michael and the staff at the Ramsey.

    The pricing is very, very good, extremely fair and competitive ...I am so glad I heard about it and went to meet with them as they offer a lot "extras" that most places do not, specifically with regards to kids, bar, and incentives on some vendors flowers (Schweinfurth Florist). 

    I promise you....you WILL not be disappointed!  My wedding was  a PERFECT DAY, MAGICAL!  I could go on and on and would be happy to answer any questions....But once you meet Michael, and see the venue, you will be sold.  He saw to it EVERY DETAIL was executed to PERFECTION

    I always wanted a brunch reception it was just like any other wedding, elegant and complete with cocktails, music and dancing....you don't have to sacrifice anything by choosing a brunch. 

    I also considered the Woodcliff Manor (Woodcliff Lake,  NJ) completely charming. Went to a tasting and their food was EXCELLENT....did not book them because they didn't have my date or an brunch option. But they lower the price for Friday/Sunday, and there is only ONE wedding at a time.  They also have a stunning outdoor space for the ceremony.

    Courtyard on Main in Freehold is in that range, but I think their max is somewhere around 170 if you're having a larger reception.
    Also the key is calling venues first and ask for their pricing for X date or X month. Then don't even go see venues not in your range, so you don't fall in love with someplace out of your budget.
    Try off-peak days - Friday night, Saturday afternoon, Sunday - and off-peak months - January-March, sometimes November-March depending on the venue. You're not going to get deals for June - or May, September or October for that matter. Those are the most popular months.

    Try the Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack.  They will definetely work with you and the food is fantastic!  You can get them for around $85 a head and even less if you negotiate an off time.
