Oh I don't like those ones as much. For some reason I don't think it's as funny if it starts off as a slow song.
A little off topic - Before TK I had never heard of a mother/son dance. I mentioned it to BF and he had never heard of it either. How common are mother/son dances?
haha I agree. I just found one video that started with the fun part and lasted only a minute total.
I dunno how common mother/son dances are... I know my parents did it at their wedding in 1989. And my FI's brother danced with his mom to a planned song at his wedding back in 2009. I can't be sure of any of the other weddings I've attended.

Oh and this reminds me of how wrong I think it is that some people are going with a Mad Men theme for their wedding... Isn't Don Draper the WORST husband ever?
We had a combined parent/child dance where I danced with my dad and hubs danced with his mom, to Iz's Over the Rainbow. It was really sweet without being too emotional. I wouldn't say I see a mother/son dance at every wedding in our area, but at least a couple.

Someone I knew picked "Daughters" by John Mayer as the father/daughter dance for her wedding. I just sat there thinking "you know this song is about a sucky dad who leaves his family... right?"
I've never seen a mother/son dance. I've been to about 4 weddings. The only one that wanted a mother/son dance decided not to out of respect for his bride. Her father was no longer in the picture, so she didn't get a father/daughter dance. I thought it was really sweet of him to compromise on that one. She compromised back by giving him total control over the cake.
If FI did something like that video, I would be totally surprised. I've never seen him seriously dance. I just don't think I'd like it because it'd be totally out of character. I would love to be a guest at a wedding with something like that though.

<div>People should probably research the song before deciding on it. I've seen this happen a lot, even with first dance songs. Just a misreading of the lyrics. And I wonder when people figure it out, if then they hate their decision or not.</div>

hahahah Is it? That will be MY father/daughter dance song... Maybe I should run that fact by him. Stupid song meanings interfering with songs I enjoy mindlessly singing along to!

Yea, as I watched a dozen or so last night I thought that they need to be short. I think most guests would die laughing if FI did one. They would be totally shocked to see him dance like that. His immediate family are NOT into dancing. Some of his brothers are actually offended by it. Clearly they are just not comfortable with wiggling and shaking around. I LOVE it and FI likes dancing more than he'll admit...
I despise The Bieb (& every other teenybopper pop star in general), but I LOVE LOVE LOVE this! Unfortunately, The SO would never come up with an idea like this without some serious hinting.

Yeaaaa not the best music. I'm a sucker for pop music in general though. FI saw me watching these videos and was like "I would never do that you know." and I was like "Yea I know." But I was thinking . o O (Maybe he is saying that so I'm surprised!) haha

Also, Mother Son dances have happened at every wedding I've ever been to, immediately following the Father Daughter dance.
