Wedding dress catastrophe!!

Okay ladies I am really just looking to vent as well as a bit of sympathy!

We are having our AHR this weekend (not something I wanted to do but it is very common in the UK when getting married abroad) so I had taken my dress to a local seamstress to get cleaned and fix the alterations that Fit for a Bride messed up. They don't actually do the cleaning in house but they send it out.

I went in today to get fitted not that it came back from the cleaners and it seems the cleaners LOST the tie for my corset back!! I have an Alfred Angelo dress and there are NO Alfred Angelo stores in Scotland, the seamstress has went to a local bridal shop and they assure me they will have a replacement by Friday but I am EXTREMELY unsure and upset. I really don't think they will be able to get an exact match to the white of my dress but I just don't know what to do. At this point I am three days away from a huge party and no pretty frock to wear!!

That really sucks, I'm sorry.  Honestly though, even if the corset ribbon isn't an exact match, I don't think anyone will notice.  Good luck and I hope it comes through in time!

    That sucks.

Have you thought about getting a ribbon that is one of your wedding colors? That way it intentionally doesn't match and will look like it was planned all along.

May I ask how debi messed up your alterations?

    Explained in her review

Well I contacted Debi to cut a sash and sew it into the back of my dress so that it didn't cover the corset, I have since went back to my emails and definitely confirmed this is what I asked her. Instead she cut the sash and put a hook and eye clasp on it so it went directly over the corset which was one of the nicest parts of my very simple dress!

I called her the morning of the wedding to explain this was not what I wanted and she came to my suite and removed the clasp and left me with 4 pieces of velcro which didn't hold for more than 30 seconds......I ended up having to steal pins from the boys flowers and pinning the sash onto my dress which was not ideal. Also the bustle was not put on correctly and it broke within a couple of hours which I found surprising as my dress was not very heavy and a very short train.

When I took it to the seamstress here they explained that she didn't take the length up correctly (I don't know exactly how they knew this but they showed me the underneath and tried to explain something about stitching) and that is why the bustle wouldn't sit properly.

At the end of the day i'm no seamstress but I know what I asked for and I didn't get it.

Hopefully you can get it fixed.  Could you do what LilMiss mentioned about a different color sash altogether?

My bustle broke too during the reception, but my train was long and heavy and the seamstress I had didn't put enough buttons on it, didn't know that of course until the reception.

It will all work out in the end.

I'm so sorry Sin. Don't worry, I'm sure the replacement will come in time and even if it's not an exact match it won't be noticeable  at all!
