Cocktail Reception

My fiance and I have decided not to have the big, fancy, sit down dinner reception. Instead we'd like to have a cocktail reception with fingerfoods/appetizers. (within a reasonable price) Any suggestions/ideas of places in the Chicago area?

A New Leaf is a great place for a cocktail reception!

I'd suggest a loft type space or gallery. Some possiblities:

    A New Leaf
    Loft on Lake
    Ravenswood Billboard Factory
    West Loop Studio

I agree with all of the above suggestions! A place where you can bring your own caterer like those spaces would work well. How many people are you hoping to have?

One thing we noticed is that having 'heavy' appetizers is still quite pricey - since there are normally many more separate items per person. But, you can save money with partial seating and no big fancy tables. I love cocktail receptions for mingling!

One more thought - if you're looking for something in the suburbs - a friend of mine attended an event at Flight 112 Wine House in Elmhurst - they used the art gallery space adjacent. She said it was wonderful.

I believe you can bring in your own caterer at the Newberry LIbrary too

I recommend the Green Dolphin's atrium room, that's where we had ours!

We had a cocktail reception at the Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake. HTH!
