uninvited guest

i hope this don't offend anyone talking about this but any ladies out there worried about "uninvited guest" showing up?  I really am worried since I have a white ball gown dress, I was just wondering

Re: uninvited guest

  • Not gonna lie, for a minute there I was like "what does the type of dress you have have to do with uninvited guests?" I get it now, haha. I'm on BCP and discussed it with my gyno at my last annual. She told me it was ok to skip the placebos and go right onto the next pack if I found that my period was going to fall during my wedding. Luckily for me it'll be the week before, so I don't have to worry about doing that.

  • Started BCP for that exact reason! No uninvited guest on my wedding day or honeymoon.

  • I am cracking up that you didn't just say "your period" showing up.  It took me a minute to figure out why an extra guest would be of concern for your dress.

I am not worried.  Mostly because if my timing stays... I should be about 2 weeks away.  But, if for some reason there is a miscalculation, I'm going to use a tampon and a couple of pads back to front ... and wear spanx.  Those things are pretty absorbant in an emergency.

  • I was confused too... I went from thinking "does she mean ex-boyfriends or nasty family members or something??" to "oh, duh, periods".

I manipulate my period on the regular. I choose only to have it every 2-3 months thanks to the magic of birth control. So I'm basically planning to skip it for August and September... I don't need to be any crankier or stressed than I may already be!

  • LOL!! I didn't get what the dress had to do with it until I read jessa1228  post. I am going to work my bcp so I don't get it because that is around the time I usually do.

  • I've already gone off birth control, so I'm more concerned about not being able to drink at my own wedding, if you catch my drift.  However, I'm starting to chart so we can use natural birth control (no, it's not a religious thing, it's a 'I'm sick of artificially filling my body with hormones' thing, with a little bit of a 'We aren't ready to start trying for serious, but if it happened semi-accidentally, we'd both be really happy about it' thing).

If I get Aunt Flo showing up without a proper RSVP, I love me some super tampons.  One before pictures, one before dancing and I should be set.

  • I am also on BCP and am planning on skipping mine as well for the month of September so there will be no univited guest for me.  I don't want to have to deal with that on my wedding day or on the Honeymoon either.

  • Mine is due to arrive on the first day of our honeymoon!  Huzzah!  I'm not on BC so I guess I'll just deal with it.  I'm just hoping it doesn't come on the wedding day, that would suck.  I always get really lethargic and just want to lay around for the first couple of days of it.  And of course am really emotional before it starts, that should be fun for the wedding day!  :/  Anybody have a recommendation for an over the counter med that works against that sort of thing?  I haven't really used midol or anything like that to try to combat pms symptoms.  Usually just do a pain reliever.

  • I'm on BCP as well and long ago did a calendar count of when that placebo week would hit so I could manipulate it if necessary.  I'll probably skip it as well becuase otherwise I get it the day we get back from the honeymoon...rough reality check.

If the pill isn't an option, I would wear one of those super thin panty liners (litterally as thick as a paper towel) to be safe.  They even make them in thong cut now.  I always wear one of these the day I am expecting my period/day I expect it to go away because I'm really against wearing tampons unnecessarily (and REFUSE the bulk of a normal pad).  Have tampons handy just in case too.  Not sure how regular you are but the general stress we will all be under could effect us for sure, even on the pill, so it doesnt hurt to be prepared.
  • LOL!  I didn't get it either until I read the posts.  I'm a little worried about this too, especially since I'm not on BC and my periods are rarely ever regular.  I guess I'll just deal with whatever comes my way.  Luckily mine is only heavy for a day or two and is light the rest of the time, so it shouldn't interfere with life too much.

  • I was SO confused at first! Lol

I take Seasonalle so I only get 1 every 3 months. Luckily for me that round falls at the end of October :) (and by luckily I mean when my Dr wanted to change me from the once a month to this I sat down with a calendar and figured out when to start the 3 month plan specifically lol)
