Here we go again, it's 3:00PM and everyone is asleep!

Where'd everyone go again?

Still watching the puppies?

  • I'm not- I can't do the streaming thing here.

I did figure out my plan for paying off my student loan, car loan, and loan to my dad by the end of next year. It makes me so excited to think about! (yep, definitely in a money-type mood today)

I just got home from an interview. I know that I kicked its ass. I could tell how impressed they were and how they loved my experience and answers. (They don't have many experience elementary teachers apply for a PreK out of an elementary school). They were showing me how my pay checks would look. They showed me the teacher's t-shirts, what the class would look like, etc.

And then they asked about child care and I didn't want to lie and said while I wouldn't need their child care, I am pregnant. (You could tell. I'm big) Their attitudes changed big time. I guarantee I was the best interview and I won't get the job.

  • I just got home from work. I might take a nap later. H is golfing so I get a nice long afternoon to myself. I'm going to read and hopefully get my ass up and go for a run.

I guess they thought I just had a huge belly? I mean, that blows my mind but maybe?

  • LHT- That sucks. I really hope they dont use that not to hire you.

Kate- I get so excited when I pay off my bills, I love having extra money every month to help my son, or my mom, or just shop ;) H made sure I have wiggle room in my budget so I can at least have new clothes for work. He said it's no fun paying off bills it thats ALL you're doing.

  • Ugh Hike, here's to hoping that it doesn't turn out the way you think it will and that you'll get the job.  I really don't understand people sometimes.

I'm getting ready to leave in about 20 minutes.  I got in early today and realized I will have to come in early tomorrow and stay normal time so leaving an 1-1.5 hours early sounds good to me today :)  However tomorrow is OB/GYN appt to figure out what came up on that scan.  I hate going to the lady doc.  Hate.

I feel sick and I'm feeling sorry for myself because my job sucks and its making me hate life. I feel so accomplished in my career having stuffed and addressed envelopes all day! I'm so fulfilled!

I'm here, trying to kill the next hour and half.  I've been researching credit cards.  H and I keep having terrible customer service experience with Bank of America so we want to switch (which this is no surprise, they were rated the worst customer service company of the year).

They mistakenly charged H some bogus fee and when it finally got resolved after hours of being on the phone, H asked who he needed to speak with the cancel the card and the lady goes, "UGH!! Well, I have a friend with four kids who is single and can't even get a credit card!!"  I was like wtf lady, it's not my problem your friend made poor financial decisions and the bank won't take on that liability.  So unprofessional.

All that to say, I'm looking at a Citi card that has a pretty good rewards program.  We put everything on our cards and then pay them off each month so we get maximum points and can giftcards to Lowe's, target, etc. so we want a good  card for that.  Any recs?

  • Shay- I like citi and chase.

  • I never had any issues with AmEx, even when I was unemployed they paid my bill. If I ever had an issue, they took care of it. Same with my Discover. I hate BofA.

  • Shay,

FI had CITI and then I opened one to pay for the HM (so we could make payments up until the day instead of wham bam a couple grand at once).  I haven't had an issue with them yet.  I had a Chase card when I was in college that I used for books and that one was good.  They even noticed CC fraud well before I did and were more than helpful to pay me back what "Bob" paid for Match.com, lol.
  • Shay- I really like my rewards card- I do the same thing, put everything possible on it and pay it off each month. Mine is Chase Freedom and I get 1% on everything, and then 5% on rotating categories- this quarter is gas and restaurants. As well as an online shopping mall/link that gives you bonus % cash back at a lot of online retailers.

<div> That sucks. :(  I've gone to interviews where I feel like I nailed it 'cuz they show me what this, that and the other thing look like. I even got a tour once. And then they're like, "yeah um....no." And I can't believe they got all stodgey when you mentioned being pregnant. That sounds really douchey. I'm sure something better will turn up soon!!</div>

  • Thanks for the recs guys!

Kate, I was looking at the Chase Freedom card.  That's cool that it does a revolving rewards program.  The BOA card we have is strictly 1% on everything.  One of the ones I'm looking at does like 5% at book stores (which it includes amazon as a book store so anything bought on there counts), 2% on restaurants, movies, gas, groceries, etc.

I will be so glad to be rid of BOA.

  • Hike, would you need a maternity leave right at the beginning of the school year?

I really like my Discover CC and the cashback bonus is similar to what others have described. It's been good to me. A little too good ;)
