Guest Book?

Should I go with a normal guest book or a Wishing Tree Guest book for my wedding.  Here is the link to the Wishing Tree guest book: http://www.etsy.com/listing/103438727/wishing-tree

I love how different twist on the guest book by using a Wishing Tree!  Let me know your thoughts!

Re: Guest Book?

  • I did a guest book where I glued envelopes into a book and had scraps of paper out for people to write us a note, and then put it in the envelope.  We didn't have many people actually do it.  I think we would've got a better response with a regular old guest book, so I'd say go with the norm.  Or the frame like Edie said.  A lot of people do that too.
  • I've seen the frame a lot. We did the fingerprint tree, and it didn't go over as well as we thought, but we had a normal guestbook as well, so I was very happy we decided to do both, since everyone signs a normal guestbook.
My advice to anyone would be that you can do those cute different guestbooks, but make sure and have a regular one as well.
  • I love the photo frame, I plan on doing one... I just feel that I am never going to look at the guest book again, but a picture I can hang in my home and see everyday.
  • We wanted something a little different as well and went with one from the Guest Book store. It was a huge success!

  • We're going with a digital photobook using the engagement pictures. :) I think a regular guestbook would've collected dust in my closet somewhere. I've seen jerseys in weddings before, we're major Laker fans but didn't want to make that our wedding theme.
  • I also made a photobook with pictues that my sister took of my fiance and I around Pittsburgh.  I used Shutterfly and it turned out great.  (I'm not bragging, Shutterfly is what made it great, not me.)

  • I don't see why that etsy listing is worth 100$.  It looks like about 30$ worth of stuff from the craft store.  Even if that's something you like, save yourself 70 bucks with a single trip to the store instead.

Agreed.  Plus it says shipping is $25, and the wishing tags are not included.  If you really like this idea it wouldn't be that difficult to DIY.

  • I like the idea of a nontraditional guestbook, but it needs to be super, super simple. If people can't immediately see what they should do, they won't bother.

We had a photobooth, so our guests just stuck one copy of their photostrips in our GB and signed it.  We had a few sections to fill out--Message for the B&G, how far they traveled (lots of OOT guests) and their names. Everyone filled out a sheet either in a group or individually, so it was nice.
  • I've decided to go with a quilt. Each guest will sign a square of fabric that will be made into a quilt. I'm a little scared now, from reading this, that people won't do it. Maybe I'll just talk about it all night and force them too ;)
