Corsages & Bouts for family members NOT in WP?

So we are not having a large WP, just one witness for each of us but we have asked all of our siblings to do participate in some way in the ceremony (readings, presenting the gifts for Catholic mass, handing out programs).  I was thinking it would be nice to recognize each of them by having them wear a corsage or bout to kind of stand them out from the crowd but some people have told me that this is not appropriate and only the WP & parents should have them.  I really want to do this as we have hurt a couple of people's feelings by not asking them to be GM or BM and I want them to feel special that day but I also see that it is an additional expense that maybe we could avoid.  Just looking for some advice and/or thoughts either in favor of or against this.  Thanks ladies!

If you want them to stand out by giving them flowers to wear then do it.  It's not a big deal if they're not in the WP and are wearing a flower.

Thanks!  I have some time to decide but I'm definitely leaning towards doing it if we can swing it with the budget.

well I don't know who you have been talking to .......but they are wrong. It is very appropriate. In fact the people who get flowers now days can include anyone that you want to give a token of your appreciation to. So with that said...you givea flower anyone you want to !

Do it.  In my family, it's traditional to honour family with corsages and bouts.  I don't think anyone has ever thought twice about it.

I know this isn't your situation entirely, but in the Vietnamese culture, all extended family members gets a bout.  Usually the groom's side wears one kind of bloom and the bride's side another bloom, which helps to differentiate from which side you're from.  I also will be giving a bout to my godmother and godfather.

So I see no problem with you giving a bout or corsage to anyone you wish!

It may not be common or necessary, but it's certainly not inappropriate to give a flower to those who are close to you and are helping with the wedding tasks.

It's actually a very small but nice gesture, especially if you pin it on them personally, so you can spend a brief moment with them before the wedding, to tell them how much you appreciate them.

If you want to give them a bout or corsage, go right ahead.  They will not add that much to your flower budget if you keep it simple.

in my family we give everyone who is invited to what we call the "taala" which is a formal/traditional escorting of the bride from her fathers house. usually there is about 50-60 people there, so all the aunts, uncles, grand parents and great aunts and uncles gets one, i think we will need at least 40 :-/
