Two weddings?!?! Are we crazy?

Hi there, long time no "see"...

Some of you know we've been going back and forth between my dream wedding on a tropical beach and marrying in Germany so FI's parents can attend.

Well....we have decided we can't please everyone with one ceremony so we think we are going to have two.

I'm thinking hopefully we can get the date we like 12.11.10 in Mexico then go to Germany around the 20th (as we usually do) and do it in Germany before Christmas.

ARE WE CRAZY??

Re: Two weddings?!?! Are we crazy?

  • That actually sounds like a good compromise.  Where would you obtain your marriage license?
  • I think we will do the legal stuff in Germany, if not then the courthouse here (in TX) as Mexico is such a pain.
  • I've heard that about Mexico!  Just remember the following knottie statement of truth:

All that matters is what makes you and your fi happy!  You're never going to please everybody.

  • I was just thinking about you!

I think this sounds like a great idea and not crazy at all.  I also think a lot of people do something similar if they have family in different parts of the world!
  • my first reaction was to say yes, you're nuts! Wink But, that actually sounds like a great way to make everyone feel included and still get the wedding you want. I thihkm what I would do is get the legal stuff done before you do either so that it's taken care of, but that's just me. GL!

  • that's probably the best idea Natalie, the we don't have to worry that something was not done correctly!

    I'm getting excited!
  • do the courthouse in TX it's crazy easy.  $50 + ID for you and FI = Marriage license, then $71 cash at the JoP = married! (Harris County, which I assume you're in since it says Houston?)  We're doing that in a little over 2 weeks =)

  • Thanks Mel-

I'm actually in College Station but had to chose Houston. The only thing I think might throw a hitch in the JOP thing is FI is from Germany.

I think it will really be easiest to do it here though...

thanks for the advice and good luck!! :)
  • Are you wearing your wedding dress wice?  We're getting married in mexico and doing another one at home as my grandparents can't got to mexico.  My family wants me to wear my dress twice but i don't know...
