Heat Help!

I am getting married September 1 in Baytown, TX by the water. Without thinking about the heat, we scheduled out wedding that day at 6 p.m. Now we are really worried about how hot it will be for our wedding party and guests. We don't want to put a tent up for the ceremony as it ruins the view. Any suggestions as to how we can eliminate the heat?
Our reception will also be in the same location, outside. We are looking at renting a tent for that. Any suggestions for expensive tent rentals in the area? Thanks!

Fans and water bottles for the ceremony.  For the tent you need to ask your local board.  :)
  • Would you rather have comfortable guests or a view?
  • We are in the exact same boat! Expecting over 100 degrees for our 6 pm wedding. We are making the ceremony VERY short and putting up tents for the reception part. I would make sure your ceremony is quick and to the point and then it won't matter how warm it is because everyone can get right out. We are making our programs into fans and leaving one on each seat also :) Then for the reception which is in the same location we have some outdoor misters and tents and lots and lots and lots of iced drinks! People will take care of themselves. My dress is incredibly hot so I am putting some ice packs underneath lol and we aren't bringing the cake out til its time to cut. Also consider putting out bug spray for the guests depending on your location :)

To be very honest, it's going to be really freaking hot. I might give a pass for an extremely short outdoor ceremony, but the reception as well? Is there ANY inside option? I would not go with misters as PP suggested because not only will they make it more humid in this climate, as a guest I wouldn't want to be getting all wet in my nice clothes, and my hair does pretty wonky things in that environment. I would honestly rethink an outdoor reception.

<div>I would be a bit concerned about this.  Will the guests be out in the heat as soon as they arrive?  Most people arrive anywhere from 15-30 minutes prior to the ceremony start time.  Even with a very quick ceremony there will be at least another 5 or 10 minutes for the recessional and releasing the rows.  That could really add up to quite a bit of time in the heat.</div>

This. We too are having an outdoor wedding (July 7th) at 5 pm here in West Texas, where it's usually 100+ by that time. We're providing water bottles iced down to stay cold with personalized water bottle labels we bought online.

Our programs are fans and we've decided to keep out ceremony fairly short due to how hot it will probably be then. I think these are 2 things you really must have when having an outdoor wedding, especially in the summer/hotter weather. GL!!
  • We are getting married next week in Texas and are having water bottles and fans available for all the guests at the ceremony. As far as a tent for your reception goes, I would try to spring for one of the air conditioned tents if at all possible. They are a little more money but would be worth it to not have guests passing out in the heat.
