Meh. It's not the worst name I've ever heard, but I wouldn't pick it.
I was looking at a professional licensure website today to see if my name had been added to the list yet, and as I was scrolling down I saw someone who's first name is T-Rex. Legal names are required to be used on licenses, so it's not even a nickname.
Ivy isn't bad (it's a little too "artsy" for my taste, but that's just a matter of preference), and I like Helene (I actually know someone who had that name and pronounced it "He-lane" which I like a lot), but Rayn is a little much for me. Wanting your kid to be an individual is fine, but randomly inserting "y"s where they don't belong isn't the way to go about it.
If I had to chose just from those three, I'd name the kid Helene Ivy Smith.
Oh also, I'm sure mom thinks Ivy is "unique," but Beyonce just named her baby Ivy (or Blue Ivy, or Bleu Ivy, or whatever) so I imagine Ivy is going to explode over the next year or two. So not only will baby be Ivy, she'll be stuck being "Ivy S." in every class because there will be more than one. (As someone who grew up as "Stephanie LastInitial" because there where eight million other Stephanies, I can tell you it was super-annoying to not have "my own" name.)
Well Personally My older two girls both have 4 names. Not a big thing. Thats the way it is. I love the entire name. very original. I am a big fan of unique names and more importantly: Do you like it??? As along as you do...that's all that matters.
I went to school with a girl whose name was Ivy Leaf. ARGH. Ivy is ok. I also have a friend whose name is John Brown. He named his son Blue. Blue Brown. Blue is now close to 30, and he still must hate his name. Another friend of mine named her daughter Raya. Middle name Sunshine. Yup, Raya Sunshine. Double ARGH.
Ivy Rayn Helene. I am not one for weird spellings. But it isn't hideous.
Rayn Ivy Smith. or Helene Ivy Smith. I agree with PPs about the name Ivy exploding soon. Since you were choosing uniqure names, that is something to consider.

This is about my sister's son's baby. I would never try to tell someone what to name their child. I got to name mine, they get the same opportunity.

I'm not so sure my sister is of the same mind.
