Dress Alterations

What is the average cost to have a wedding dress tailored?

Re: Dress Alterations

  • Really depends where you go. Some places are much more reasonable than others.

For ex: I went to Chris O'Hare in Quincy and it cost me under $100 to take my dress in 4 sizes, make it into a mermaide from an A-line, add cups, bring up the hem, and attach a blusher to my veil.

Agree with imimahoney. I paid $700 to have a back and straps added to my strapless dress with extra lace ordered from the company for this purpose, double French bustle with 12 or 13 points, adding cups and taking it in. ETA: This also included pressing my dress and veil. Not all alterations places will press your dress.

If you're close to the South Shore, Chris O'Hare gets awesome reviews. If you're more Metrowest, Fay Carraher gets great reviews.
  • Mine is going to be $350 for adding cups, brining in the top/bust, adjusting hem and  taking off the train. She is also storing the dress, which I purchased as sample in Nov, for free.
