Sawgrass Marriott Resort?

Hi Ladies,

This is my first time posting on this board, just got married a little over a month ago and am jumping into more wedding planning! I'm helping my SIL plan her wedding and she is leaning towards having it at Sawgrass Golf Resort & Spa (Marriott). Does anyone have any info on this place?

Also, the ceremony packages at the Marriott are a bit pricey, so if she decided she wanted to do an outdoor ceremony versus a church, can anyone recommend a park or some other place not too far away from the hotel for an outdoor ceremony? I don't know much about Jacksonville or North FL, so I figured this would be the best place to get info!

    Congrats on your wedding!

    That's actually where I'm having my ceremony and reception!    See if you can negotiate the price of the ceremony fee..that's what I did, but my coordinator at the time recently left.  They've been great to work with so far so I would talk to them and see if they'll work with her budget.  For me that was one of the main reasons I chose them..to have the ceremony outdoors on the deck with that beautiful backdrop.  (as long as it hopefully doesn't rain!)   Another issue for me was modifying the menu to make it semi-kosher and the chef did an amazing job preparing alternatives or modifying the dishes. 

    As far as nearby locations for the ceremony, unfortunately I can't help you out there but maybe some other girls will have suggestions.

    I recommend checking into Palm Valley Gardens... I will be having both my ceremony and reception there. They only rent out the space - So you bring in your own caterers and other vendors (which is what I like best). HTH...
