      Get a copy of your marriage certificate once it is registered with town hall. Then go to the Social Security office, and 24 hours later you can go to the DMV. Everything else comes after that, in no particular order. Tons of details are in my bio, on the Name Change page. Congratulations and good luck with the name change!

      I got married on 6/18 and am about to begin the name change process. I know the first step is to get a copy of the marriage license. How many certified copies should I get? Do most places (DMV, bank, etc.) require a certified copy or will a photocopy do? Thanks!
