   How did you all decide on a DJ? Did you seen them "perform"? Did they provide you with references? I am extremely nervous about picking a DJ -- mostly because the last thing I remember from some of the weddings I have attended is how terrible the DJ was.    Look for references, definitely. We booked our DJ through a very well respected service in town. The best part about it was that the DJ came to the local starbucks and met us twice for an hour each time before the wedding...the first time was before we signed a contract or put any money down.    We booked our DJ based on recommendations from my local board. The problem with going to listen to a DJ at someone else's wedding is that your taste of music may be different than that bride and groom's, so you'll think it was bad, but it may be just what they wanted.

   I booked my DJ sight unseen purely for the price. He was great, I guess I was lucky.

   i picked mine because although he comes highly recommended and its one of the most expensive around, his "off season discount" of 50% off starts on november 1, my wedding day. im paying slightly less than most dj's, for what everyone says is "overpriced but worth it".

   We met our DJ while he was setting up for a wedding at a local resort. The company offered to provide references, but we also wanted to 'kick the tires' so to speak. When we met him in person, we were so pleased.The company already received great reviews, but it made the difference to us to meet him in person.
