  Basically Knottie #s what the others are trying to say, that maybe you aren't understanding, is that ettiqutte doesn't care if you have a dress up play pretend pretty princess day and call it a celebration of your marriage (legally you are married when you sign your marriage license wherever that may be) Lying to you guests (calling it a wedding when it is not) flus in the face of ettiqutte and WILL piss off your guests. Maybe not all of them, but some, they may never tell you but we get plenty of stories here on the knot about just this very thing.
  
  Its not about different opinions, it's about being a good host. Guests pay for nothing (drinks, parking, whatever) during the ceremony, you don't beg for cash, every butt has a chair, everyone gets fed the same quality food.
  
  That being said, if you want to be a ride horrible host and say Fuck you to ettiqutte, then this board is not for you. If you want to be patted and praised about what a pretty princess you are, you are right, there are other boards that will cater to making the wrong choice to suit your vision.

  I am just off a cruise ship where there was a big ppd.  The guests knew it wasn't a legal wedding, and they were irritated at paying to witness it, but the family obligations made them feel it was necessary to spend the money to attend.  There was some muttering.  It was quite evident that ppds are not a good idea, even when the couple is honest about it.
