Re: Venue Issues - allowing festival to take parking lot and close down street access

Can you look at your contract and see if the things you won't have were included in it? If parking and use of the facility was included there I think you can argue that they either need to allow you to park or provide accomodations for you to do so elsewhere at their cost. Regarding the vendors, I think you can talk to them and advise them of the issue and then ask what they'll need to load/unload. If they can't just wheel food down several blocks then talk to your venue about what options they are presenting.

Regarding the event - I agree you need to try to make lemons out of this. Take photos AT the event itself. See where your guests can park if you come up with nothing in the contract and talk to the venue to see if they are willing to offer a shuttle or split the cost to move the guests.

Even if she called it off a month before, you'd still already put out money, correct? The dresses were likely already purchased. So even if she was having second thoughts at a month, you still would have been out money.

Also, if the wedding didn't even take place, how did you have to pay in full for hair and makeup? Those are services you typically pay at the time the service is rendered, so I call BS on that one.

If you're so hard up, sell the dresses, accessories etc on FB Marketplace or something like that.

And truly, I think you need to do some self-reflecting as to why you care more about the money than your "sister" going through what's probably an incredibly hard time.

Finally Friday

This weekend is going to be decision time. DH passed the Wednesday interview and we're waiting on the official offer letter. He's also trying to get a firm offer on the internal position he interviewed for yesterday. I'm exhausted from discussing and weighing all the damn options, LOL. My brain hurts. I can also feel myself holding the tension in my jaw.

Tonight, my friend L and her son are coming over for dinner because our friend M is working and we haven't seen each other in a few weeks. Tomorrow is boating. Sunday is a Scouts thing. I'm experimenting with a recipe idea DefConn suggested probably on Sunday. If it works out, I'll share it.

Hello from the beach!

It took 2.5 hours but DS is finally playing and not crying or trying to run off down the beach. Of course now I am hungry and half ready to go home.

Lunch with SIL today and tonight the whole family is going for hibachi. No big plans for the weekend besides going downtown to the market to see MIL's BFF. She has a stand there on the weekends and works full time so it is one of the only opportunities we will have to see her. We got our NIPT results back and future baby is going to be a girl! MIL is too excited, lol.

Im hate watching Emily in Paris and snuggling a baby while he's sleeping. This show is horrible. The clothes aren't even good. She dresses like a 12 year old imagining how they will dress as an adult. There is nothing redeeming about this,, but I can't stop.

I'm going to take G for a solo date this weekend. He's starting to get super jealous of baby N and I think it would be good to have some alone time with him!

Hoping the boys nap at the same time in the afternoons so H and I can nap and have some alone time

When we have parties there's alcohol. It doesn't matter the type. If we're hosting in our home and it's a kid's birthday or an adult event - we have it and offer it to those who are of age. My kids know not to drink but also know how to open a beer.

When we head to the marina with the kids that's an area of
-plenty of adults drinking. We do and so do many other parents.
-Dudes are cursing at times. There's even a series of T shirts going around that say, "I'm sorry for what I said while docking the boat." It's not so common to the point that my kids come home with new phrases but I have heard a share of four letter words.

That the LW's husband is also friends with SO many guys who are single makes me wonder if this is something like a young military marriage.

Seriously, why don't we live closer to each other?

Also I got an e-mail my kid was telling 'deez nutz' jokes at school a couple weeks ago, and I laughed instead of disciplining my kid. So LW and I would definitely never be friends.

I'm not so much anti-LW as I think LW is blowing something out of proportion. I doubt that husband suddenly started drinking for social purposes the day their kid was born. This feels just super pearl clutchy and judgy about what by her own description doesn't sound like some sort of bacchanal orgy.

I wonder what LW was like before children.

This is nuts. You both need therapy and to stop arguing over hypothetical situations. That would be like DH and me arguing over Chiquita's wedding dress tonight. This was a discussion that should not have happened and the arguing style is the reason for the therapy.

I had my first session ever with a therapist yesterday and i'm still feeling raw and emotional. It was so great to have someone to talk to about some things and I really like her so far. She was suggested by my OB/GYN who is just the absolute best and I feel like she knew I would love her.

Baby slept from 9-5 last night and I feel like a totally different person. It's amazing. We just ran a couple drive through errands and I got myself Arby's for lunch. That's definitely going to help me feel good in the bridesmaids dress I have to wear in 2 weeks *eye roll*.
