Our reception starts at 1pm. Would it be silly to have mostly candle centerpieces on the tables? Do candle centerpieces look better at night? Am I over thinking this? (I really don't want to do floral centerpieces; I want something different).
I think candles are nice any time of day. You can do a lot of different things that don't include flowers, things that relate to you and your FI. Look through the boards here and on Pinterest, too.
I've been looking around on Pinterest. My wedding coordinator sent me a few great things too. I saw this wine bottle candle centerpiece idea that I absolutely love (and FI and I are big wine drinkers :-P)
I think candles can still look nice during the day, but they might not give off the same intimate feeling as they might at night. Here are some examples of candles during the day/in well-lit areas: But, as PP said, there are lots of alternatives to flowers as centerpieces so keep looking around online and see if you like anything.
I am using mostly candles for my 1:30 pm wedding. It is a winter wedding, so I figured that a little extra light would be nice. So you wouldn't be alone if you used candles.
The pics are kind of dark, but you can see we had hundreds of candles for our brunch reception. I too was worried that the candles were going to be overkill in the day light, but they really gave off a romantic feel!

Re: Candle centerpieces / daytime wedding?

And if you don't want to use candles, there are plenty of other non-floral options as well. Google and Pinterest are your friends!
