Honeymoon suggestions

We like islands, and would love to go to the Maldives, but that's way too expensive. We're also interested in Tahiti, Turks & Caicos or Australia. Greece looks nice too, but we don't know much about it. We only want all inclusive, and can fly out of JFK, philly, newark, anywhere in PA,NJ,or NY.

Even if it's not a place i listed and you love it, tell me! Only place we are 100% opposed it the Domincan Republic because we go there often. We kinda want that secluded feel, beach, sun, great service so we have no worries.

Budget is 5-7k, thank you!

Re: Honeymoon suggestions

  • Does the 5-7k budget include flights? What time of year are you going and how long would you be staying? Tahiti and Australia may be tough to do as flight costs will take a big part of the budget. Turks and Caicos only has a couple of all inclusives, so that may be something to consider as well.

Some islands to consider that have a lot of all inclusives to choose from are Jamaica, Antigua, and St. Lucia. There are also Sandals resorts in the Bahamas and Barbados if those interest you.

If you are okay with not being on an island, you could look at Mexico or Costa Rica.
  • it does, but we have some miles and free flights saved up so it could end up costing less for the flight if we do not use them before then. It's the first week in May 2015.
  • If and only if you can get free flights with miles, Tahiti can be considered. I go quite often and the flights alone are $1200pp at their cheapest from LAX. Then tack on costs to get to LAX and interisland airfare of around $400-500pp to get to most outer islands, you're looking at almost $4000 in airfare before you even hit the ground. Airfare to Australia can run around the same and sometimes more. May is going into their winter, so that will help with costs. That being said, you won't get any all inclusives there, so you can nix both of those places. However, check out Fiji. With airfare covered, you may be able to look into Namale. Keep in mind that when using miles, you must book the air first before arranging the land because you may have to be super flexible to get the freebie flights!

Check out St. Lucia. They have a few resorts that are AI or offer AI and the terrain is very similar to some islands in Tahiti.

  • miles are great but fees are awful. newark to heathrow has a per person 750 fee charge in addition to the miles when codesharing american to british airways. jsut saying. thats nearly 1/4 of your budget so it may be more advantageous to use those miles for the hotel.

if you're set on AIs then greece is out.

  • Have you checked out BVI? We are looking into this place now: http://www.biras.com/  It gets great reviews and looks gorgeous.
  • Sandals Grande St Lucian!!

Also check out Aruba-- it is beautiful.
  • We used delta miles to book our trip- Boston to Heathrow, Edinburgh to Boston. Fees were $188 per person. We looked at a couple of flights into Amsterdam where fees were around 100 per person.  Shop around with your miles program.
  • Wow!! All these places sound amazing. Perfect honeymoon spots!
