Destination Wedding Invitation help!

I am getting married in Oct 2014
My resort needs to have all of the rooms booked in our block by July 11th 2014

My question is when should I send out my invitations? 2/3 months before July 11th?

I already sent out save the dates and I have a wedding website. I just want to make sure that people have enough time to save money, book their rooms and get their passports.

Re: Destination Wedding Invitation help!

  • How big is your guest list? Is that something that can be handled in a separate correspondence? (email, phone calls, etc)

  • You can't really control who saves what and how, and who books what room and when. So, by providing all the information in a timely manner (here, you've already done that with the STD and website), you've done all you can do. Sit back and relax.

  • im getting married sept 2014 and plan on sending out my invites in mid April. thats like almost 4 whole months in advance. Now im thinking maybe thats a little too soon?
  • I asked for help on this topic on the Etiquette board. Here's the timeline they gave me, with full disclosure about the need to book early due to the distance:

STDs: 1 year to 10 months out
    Invitations: 8 weeks out
    RSVP deadline: 4 weeks out

If you're worried about people getting the information, I would make sure to send out STDs with a link to a wedding website full of useful information ASAP. After a month or so I might call to follow up with any guests you fear are less tech-savy and offer to assist them with any bookings they'd like to make.
