Hooray for Illinois!

There are now 15 states that allow for same-sex marriage! I know we have a lot of Chicago ladies on this board in particular, so I want to say thank you for the very happy text I just got from my BFF and congratulations!

One day we'll look back and shake our heads at how silly this whole debate is as we stand beside our friends of all gender at the altar.

Re: Hooray for Illinois!

  • So proud of Illinois!  The Pride Parade next summer is going to be off the hook!
  • Woohoo!  So excited when I saw this - I can only imagine the number of weddings coming up in the next year!

  • Well it technically hasn't been signed into law, but passing the House was the biggest challenge. So huzzah! About damn time!

Might have to make a trip back for Pride next June <3
  • YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

So many more states joining the Cool Kids Club (Massachusetts)

  • Yay! And totally agree. I don't get why this is a debate. Heck most of these hot topic issues shouldn't be! Let my gay brothers and sisters marry and stay out of my vagina's decisions. These are not big ideas.
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton

  • It's comforting to know that the anti-marriage equality zealots will be on the wrong side of history just like the pro-segregation zealots of the early- to mid-20th century.

And my husband posted today that now there are approximately 114,000,000 people, or 36% of the American population, who live in a state that has marriage equality :3.

  • Yay Illinois!! <3

NY was the fifth state to legalize it, in 2011.

Maine (along with Maryland & Washington) was the FIRST state to legalize same-sex marriage by popular vote, last year :)

    I love where I live & where I'm from :)

    100% agree.

Alas, I'm thinking Mississippi won't be joining the cool club for a while yet.
