Wedding Woes

I am in purge mode

I have sorted 4 diaper boxes of crap and oodles of random other stuff (nobody wants pillows that have just been sitting in the basement for years).  We usually have one trash can half full and I'm overflowing two cans and both recycle bins.  I've dusted the first floor and basement top to bottom.  I've got DH's dresser, the kids' rooms and the upstairs hall left.

Gosh it feels good.

  • Good for you.  Sometimes it just hits you just right and you gotta go with it.

Which reminds me---I have 3 boxes of books, and some other bags to go.  Oops.
  • I concur in that sentiment. Getting your hibernation hole ready for the winter :)

  • I keep trying to do that but my pack rat husband comes behind me and tells me that we need to save something.
  • I wish I could find some motivation to purge even a little bit.  Hell, our Halloween decorations are still out.

This is one great thing about being home.  ILs are taking 1 and 2 to a movie tomorrow and I might hit a few more spots then.  Too bad I can't do the garage alone.

@tawillers.  Halloween was 6 days ago.

  • Which means the decorations have been out 5 days too long.  ;)  Really, it's DH's fault.  I need him to get the rubbermaid tub out of the attic so I can put all the stuff in it.
  • We need to purge some more. But first we need some new additional storage to put away the things we want to keep. Our office/guest room/craft room has a need of places to put stuff. We never really got it together when we swapped rooms around before the baby was born, so dh is building storage this weekend, yay!
  • I just got to put my bedroom and bath back together last week (after toilet flood remodel) and it was crazy the stuff I threw away!  We have lived here almost 22 years and I found stuff that I don't even know where it came from, along with stuff that expired in 2002, lol.  I now need to spread out to all the other rooms and do the same thing.
  • And a bittersweet purge- My grandfather had a lovely cradle when he was a baby.  It's been passed down to my mom, aunts, and uncles.  Then my cousins and myself and on to all of our kids.  I have the youngest kid and this thing is now in our smaller home.  I can't hang on to it forever, but I can't fathom just putting it on Craigslist.

My cousin that just got married in the grandest of ways also announced in the grandest of ways that they are expecting.  I'm so happy that they want it, but a little teary that I'm done.  Irrationally teary since I thought I was done 2.5 years ago.  Even more irrational since I wasn't this teary about my tubal.

  • I did purge my office and some stuff from the room that is now the nursery. I think that was 3 trash bags full of sh!t. I keep hoping that one day, DH will go out on a long trip and I can have a garage sale while he's gone and sell the crap he says he's going to use but hasn't. I'm looking at you punching bag and gym equipment sitting in the garage.
  • I think that cradle would make me sad to pass on too.

(my doll cradle, that my gramps made me, is in Buffy's room.  The matching one, that belongs to my sister, is her doll cradle at grandma's.  I smile whenever she rocks it)
  • You know what really gets me motivated to clean up my place and get rid of stuff i don't need? turning on an episode of Hoarders wile I get started. Try it. You will feel so horrified at the thought you will get rid of so much stuff and clean every crack in the house

  • I love it when I get in 'purge mode'.  I need to do it again soon.

I made the kiddo get rid of clothes on Saturday that do not fit or he won't wear.  He had a shockingly small amount of clothes to get rid of vs. what I see him put on his body.  I think he just blindly picks up the first thing his hand lands on and puts it on.

And you know what's on his Christmas list?  More damn clothes.

    Teenagers.  Harumph.  /rant
