1) If you could go back to relive one day of your life, which day would it be and why?
not my wedding day, only because it felt so short!  I'd like to relive the first day we were married.  we spent the night at our house (first time we had ever spent the night together!) and flew off to Boston for our HM.  it was a fun and exciting day!

I got a car for Christmas as a teenager.  that was awesome!

I had a BF when I met H, but it took me 9 months to break up with him because he would say things like he wouldn't live without me, etc.  when I did finally break it off with him, he drove 3 hours and showed up at my church's bible study looking for me.  I hid in a bathroom while my dad escorted him back to his car and convinced him to go back home.  it was embarrassing.

This is extremely tough since I love giving gifts. Probably the quilt I gave my grandmother for her birthday that I made.

1) If you could go back to relive one day of your life, which day would it be and why?

 

I would normally say the day we got married because it was such a wonderful, happy day but lately I've been missing my Dad something fierce so I'd probably go back to the day all of my family and H's family went up to the Wisconsin Dells and I got to sit around surrounded by all of my family (old, new and, now, missing).

2) What is the best birthday or holiday gift you ever received?

 

My first birthday present from H was something practical (a better wine opener than my crappy one) and a painting he had made from a picture of me that was his favorite.  It wasn't so much about the present though as the presentation of it...he got some decorations for the house, lit some candles, had some bubbly, etc. all as a nice surprise.

3) What is the best birthday or holiday gift you've ever given?

 

For our first Christmas H really wanted an iPhone.  Keeping him away from the store to buy one for himself was hellish.  Because I didn't have his Social/phone plan info I had to buy a new one unlocked (ouch, price wise).  I have a picture of his reaction...he was so shocked and happy.

White wine or, if it is a good bar, lemon drop martini.

5) Tell me about an awkward dating experience

 

I didn't end up dating the guy (because he creeped me out) but I met someone online who I was supposed to go out on a date with.  About a week before our date he started texting me really odd things...like "how do you feel about PDA on the first date?" "When do you think sex should happen between a new couple?" etc.  I changed our dinner date to a lunch date because I was being nice and he "refused" to move the date.  I canceled the date all together and he stalked me for a good 8 months after that...had to block his phone and everything.

He was young...I think 13?

1) If you could go back to relive one day of your life, which day would it be and why?

This is probably cliche, but I would relive our wedding day. It was everything I hoped for and I would just love to go back and bask in it all again.

That is tough, but off the top of my head, I think the jewelry box that my FIL gave me last year is one of the best gifts I've ever gotten. He spent countless hours making it by hand and it is absolutely gorgeous.

I gave DH an xbox for the first birthday of his that we were dating. I thought that was pretty sweet.

Vokda soda if I'm looking to drink all night. Gin martini, dry olives if I'm looking to get drunk quick. And beer for a mellow time.

When I first moved to Chicago I joined match because I didn't know anyone and wanted to date. I went out with this one guy to a fancy pants dinner (Naha for the Chicago ladies). It was a decent first date. The next time I saw him was like a week later and I had been drinking with my new classmates for a while that day. . . so I go over to this guy's place and we smoke a little smoke. At this point I turn into a zombie and sit on his couch mute for an undetermined amount of time. He basically told me he was going to bed and I had to leave. I stumbled out of his place, threw up on his sidewalk and took a cab home. I had been in the city for about 2 weeks at the time and was so confused and lost. That cabbie saved my life. The guy never called again. No big loss as he was weird anyway.

1) If you could go back to relive one day of your life, which day would it be and why? Wow - this is super hard.  I think maybe Easter 5 years ago, because it was the last time I saw my aunt that I was very close to before she passed away.  We celebrated Easter and her birthday - I would love to give her another hug and hear her laugh.

2) What is the best birthday or holiday gift you ever received?  My oven.  I got a floor model that was dinged, but man do I love that thing.

3) What is the best birthday or holiday gift you've ever given?  Hmm... I have a thing but it's not necessarily one gift - one year for Christmas my parents decided to get a computer and not buy gifts for each other - so I took it upon myself to play Santa for them that year and buy them a bunch of smaller things that they could open.  I still love that memory, they were both so mad with each other at first until they figured out I did it

4) What is your go-to drink at a bar?  Something basic - I am usually a beer or cider girl depending on the place - not the biggest fan of mixed drinks except for margaritas!

5) Tell me about an awkward dating experience I went out with this guy once, and he ended up being a SUPER loud talker - so much so that I kept talking softer and softer hoping he would get the hint (he didn't).  It got to the point where everyone around us would stare at our table whenever he talked because you could hear him over everyone in the restaurant.  I hate when you are the center of attention for not a good reason!

So someone finds this new island in the middle of the Pacific, and the UN decides to send people there to try to create a working habitat for one year.  They send an American man, a European man, and an Asian man.  The American is in charge of building, the European is in charge of food, and the Asian is in charge of supplies.

After a year, the UN sends people to see what they've accomplished on the island.  The first person they run into is the American, who shows them all the new buildings he has created with the items found on the island.  The UN is impressed, and they all move along.  They meet the European man, and he shows them all the new types of food he has discovered and has them try new meals he's developed - again, the UN is impressed.

The UN contingent then asks about the Asian man.  The American and European look at each other and say "You know, we really haven't seen him since we got here."  The whole group goes into the jungle and starts looking around for him.  All of a sudden, in the middle of the jungle, the Asian man jumps out from behind a tree and yells "SUPPLIES!!"

1) If you could go back to relive one day of your life, which day would it be and why?

Probably BF's 28th birthday. We were on a cruise, and docked that day in the Bahamas. We had a wonderful breakfast on the ship, looking out onto the island. Then we found a gorgeous hotel where we bought a day pass to use their pools and beach. The water was gorgeous, and we drank pina coladas all day. We bought goggles and swam in the ocean and watched the fish swim by. After leaving the island, we had dinner in the ship's steak house and split a bottle of wine. It was just the most relaxing, perfect day I could have imagined. Of course, BF would probably pick a different day since he came down with food poisoning a few hours after dinner....

2) What is the best birthday or holiday gift you ever received?

Last Christmas, BF got me a couples cooking class gift certificate. The class was SO FUN and it was focused on the "sensual" side of cooking. There were a bunch of little games including feeding things to your blindfolded partner and having them guess what they were eating. It was fun and totally outside of BF's comfort zone, but luckily the unlimited wine helped him relax. It was the coolest present I've ever received!

A few years ago, my sisters and I all chipped in and bought my mom a good laptop. All her and my stepdad had was an OLD and SLOW desktop computer - she had never owned a laptop before. She was so surprised and happy that she burst into tears when she opened it. I don't think she ever expected getting something like that from us and she LOVED it.It made me sooooo happy to see her so happy.

If I'm someplace nice, a french martini. Otherwise, a vodka cranberry.

I tried the online-dating thing for a little while, and was out with a guy I had met on OkCupid. He was pretty cute, but we had ZERO chemistry. He hardly had anything to say to me, and I figured we both realized that this was not a good match whatsoever. After only about an hour, we decided to end it, and left the place we were out. As I'm saying goodbye outside, he pulled me towards him and starting kissing me. I was totally caught off guard and practically had to push him off of me. I don't know if he just totally misread the signals, or if he was just a weirdo, but I never heard from him again. Thank god.

He was 15, with his high school girlfriend. I thought 15 was kind of young - but minskat30's H has that beat!

I would say the day FI and I got engaged because it was one of the most romantic and amazing days of my life. I took the entire day in and just loved every single second of it.

Hmm..that's a difficult question. I think recently it has been my new slippers from my Birthday but overall I really have no idea. There has been many.

The last Christmas I spent with my paternal grandparents. My grandmother had Alzteimer's and for once, she was aware of who we were, she even busted my grandfather's balls for asking for velcro sneakers for Christmas. She passed away the February after and my grandfather passed away 3 months later in May. Holidays have never been the same without them.

Hmmm, I want to say my Kitchen Aide mixer but I haven't even used it yet. I'll have to say my favorite so far is my iPad. I use it every day.

SAME THING TOO! Last Christmas was our first Christmas together in our new home. Every Christmas Eve my family makes lasagna, drinks a bottle of Bailey's and watches Christmas Story. I told BF we're doing it, dammit, because I was so depressed last year. He sat down to watch it because I think he felt bad, and after the movie he goes: "I don't get what the big deal is"

1) If you could go back to relive one day of your life, which day would it be and why?

Three days-the day each of my children was born.  Childbirth is the most amazing experience, and there is nothing like holding your baby for the first time.  I'd go through it all, including the pain, to have that moment again!

DH is an amazing gift giver, but I really cherish the handmade things my kids give me.  Little ornaments for the tree, t-shirts with hand prints on them, etc.  ***snif

One year my sister and I had our Dad's University of Michigan class ring refurbished, resized, and had a new stone put in.  He graduated with his Masters' in 1974, he'd shattered the stone, and it got too small, so he had it cut off and it just sat in his drawer for years.  I stole it and we took it to a jeweler to have it fixed for him, he had no idea and was so touched.

Wine, or if it's a really nice bar, a Hendrick's cucumber martini.

One guy I met thought I was his therapist.  He told me that he'd cheated on his ex-wife for years with multiple women including prostitutes, he hid money from her, he had a vasectomy without telling her, he got an STD and never told her, the list went on and on.  He freaked me the f&*k out, and obviously I never saw him again.  This was all over a nice, casual first lunch date.  So gross.

No, thank God.  I did once years ago.  My friend was cheating on her H and it was horrible.  I asked her to lunch to have a sit down with her and tell her she needed to get about the business of being married, or get about the business of being divorced.  But her H found out before we could have lunch, and it turned into this huge, enormous, disgusting mess.  Yuck.

The first date I had with my FI.  The morning wasn't the greatest (school) but the evening was magic! From the pizza and movie to the hours we spent getting to know one another in his basement to the "good-bye kiss" that lasted like twenty minutes!  So much chemistry at once on that night.

2) What is the best birthday or holiday gift you ever received?

The best birthday present I ever got was about a year and a half after FI and I were dating.  I needed a new laptop for school so he got his entire family to help buy me one.  It was so nice because ad I opened it FI had programed a little message to play once it started up that read "Love You, now go get an A in physics!"

3) What is the best birthday or holiday gift you've ever given?

I don't really feel like I am very good at gift giving, but I think the best gift would have to be the Tablet I got for FI his birthday.  He kept hinting he wanted one for Christmas, so I used the box to wrap up a note.  When he opened it the note said here's your tablet and had an asprin tapped to it.  He laughed at me (our sense of humor). Then I gave him the real tablet and he just laughed some more.

I have two:

 

1)  When I was in college I had this guy in my Geology Lab class that had a thing for me.  At first he would just want to be in our lab group but by mid semester he wanted to go out.  So he asked me out, kept trying to pubicly make-out with me, but never pushed the sex thing.  After a few weeks of this he finally said he was ready and we fooled around a bit.  I knew he wasn't super into it, even though he said he was.  Then like two weeks later he told me, I like you a lot but I am in love with someone else and left.  A full TWO YEARS LATER, we passed each other in the hallway and he was like, "hey I met this girl and we had this wild threesome!  Thanks for helping my sex life!"

 

2)  I dated a guy for nearly two years, after a he broke-up with me tearful day he decided he wanted to be friends.  A week later I found out he had a new girlfriend that he was flirting with before we broke up so I called him and we had a fight (young and emotional I know) and I told him I never wanted to speak with him again.  Fast forward over a year, he calls me out of the blue to tell me he tried sex with men and liked it but he didn't know who to tell as his current girlfriend wouldn't understand. WTF?!?!?!?!?!

 

I could probably keep going as I seem to find the strangest men but I figured this would suffice for now.

My one friend has both knowingly and unknowingly been the other women three times now.  The last time she just told me about yesterday...I don't have words for the way it makes me feel to knowingly sleep with a married/engaged man. 

For the record this last guy did lie about it, but they also screwed on the first date and four other times within a week before she really even knew him, and then found out.

Would I ever date one of my exes again? I have mixed feelings. I tried once. I was young and stupid and was friends with benefits the fall following an ugly spring break up with my first serious relationship that I had lost my virginity to. The whole experience definitely smacked me in the face that usually exes aren't a good idea.

So it was me and his friends who I really didnt even know stuck at a movie together...awkward.

I would love to go back to the day my best friend and I climbed teotihuacan in mexico. We were so young, happy and lucky to be able to travel on a whim. I miss that feeling.

Probably the day we got engaged.  It was the happiest day of my life.

DH surprised me with an 8 day cruise for my 21st birthday.  That was pretty nice.
