So I just got engaged and recently moved to NY with my fiance. The wedding will be in florida where we are both from. Im having a hard time deciding on a venue since Im so far away also I want to stay within a modest budget. I want to say lets just do a cruise wedding but I run into the issue of his grandmother... shes not fond of the idea... any suggestions?

First - Congrats and Welcome!!!!

Next - did grandma say what she isn't fond of? the cruise itself, some aspect of the wedding, travelling, etc? Depending on why she isn't happy with the idea I think suggestions will change.

In a lot of cases - once you guys decide what you really want for your day and are able to explain that to your family they can tell if a destination wedding is really your dream and they go with it. I think sometimes family is concerned with travelling / concerned with having a non-traditional wedding and don't want you to miss out on that -- you can address those things by being sure what you both want and they figuring out ways to minimize travel stress.

Shes older and cant walk that well and I think that worries her. I am dead set on getting married on the beach and I know that in itself worries her. But I am not budging on that. 

Im running into the problem of both our mothers want a cruise wedding and my fiance is just concerned about his grandma.  But I think we just need to do what is best for us in the end. And I dont want him to be worried about his grand ma. So perhaps a beach ceremony in florida will be best. 

Anyone with suggestions of rustic beach venues is greatly appreciated
