Travis Allen: A
Travis did our ceremony complete with Elvis-style vows. He
sang three songs throughout the ceremony and then took pictures with everyone
afterwards. His singing is amazing and we are still getting comments about how
much people loved “Elvis”! He was really nice and made a great impression on
everyone there and was really patient about taking pictures with all our
guests. The ceremony and vows were funny but also romantic.
The only issue I had was with his manager. I would email him
with a question or some information and wouldn’t get a reply until I emailed a
second time, asking if he had gotten my first email. Then the manager would
respond. That was a huge source of frustration for me, especially as we got closer
and closer to the wedding. I have nothing but good things to say about Travis
and I can’t fault him for what his manager does… but I would be curious to know
if I am the only one who has had this issue.
Julian Serrano (Aria): A+++
I am really surprised not to have seen other brides use
Julian Serrano for their wedding reception here on TK… but it is a great
option! Planning the reception was the easiest part of the whole process for me
because the managers were helpful. We had 19 guests in total and got a
seven-course meal; six courses were tapas-style entrees, and then a dessert
course. The wine list is really long and had a lot of great bottles on it, and
they give you lots of choices on the menu when you make your selections. You end
up choosing two vegetarian, two seafood and two meat dishes in advance, and the
restaurant chooses the desserts. There is also an unlimited sangria option and
you can add paella to the menu as well.
The food was absolutely delicious, we had some very picky
eaters there but even they found dishes they enjoyed (hence why it was a good
idea to serve everyone 6 dishes!) Everybody left feeling really full even with
the small plates, and we are still getting compliments on how great the food
was. I think we paid somewhere around $60 per plate plus we pre-selected wine
for each table. The staff was very helpful with creating the seating
arrangements. It was important to me to have certain people sitting together
and they bent over backwards to make sure we had the right sizes of tables
available. There is no private dining
room but really we preferred being out with all the other diners because we got
to be part of the fun atmosphere of the restaurant. We did have our own little
area though where only our wedding attendees sat – it’s not like they just
seated people randomly throughout the restaurant. We just ended up doing the
toasts later that night up in the penthouse rather than at dinner, no big deal.
Okay so here are the last of my reviews. I hope they're helpful!
Marriage License Bureau – A
We took a cab there and back, which cost us $25 each way. Make
sure you have either a phone to call a cab or have the driver come back in
about 20 minutes, otherwise you may have to walk around for a bit trying to
find a free cab. Do the online pre-application to save tons of time! We went
through the express lane, when we got there there were two people ahead of us
and we were still in and out before even one person in the regular lineup was
finished. The only thing is, watch out for scams – we’ve gotten scam calls
already about ordering the certificate through them… google all the phone
numbers before giving ANYONE your credit card information. It’s kind of
upsetting because I don’t know how the scammers got our home phone numbers, I
really hope the bureau isn’t selling our information.
