Stamps for Invitations

My invitations will cost $0.86 to send- there only appears to be one $0.86 stamp with the USPS- a Puffin.  The only other option is a $0.66 wedding stamp with a $0.20 George Washington stamp.  has anyone run into this?  Are there any other options that I am missing?

Thanks!

Re: Stamps for Invitations

  • Personally, I'd go with the puffin.  I'm too lazy to put on 2 stamps, and I can't imagine any of my guests being shocked at receiving an invitation with a puffin stamp.

You could always opt for a more expensive stamp, if it means a lot to you.
  • I would use the puffin, if I were you.  You could always make a custom stamp: http://www.zazzle.com/wedding+stamps

  • There's a wedding cake stamp we used. Look online and you can order them.
  • @doeydo Oh good suggestion, I forgot you could do that.
  • I love puffins and that stamp is adorable! I doubt any of your guests (except other puffin fans) will even notice the stamp.
  • Honestly, I'd just go with the puffin.  It's gotta get sent either way, right?  Unless the recipient is a stamp collector / aficionado, I doubt they'll notice.

  • Puffin all the way.
  • Puffin. The stamp on the envelope is probably the least consequential detail in your wedding. Don't over think it.

  • Check online, the USPS has more options available online then they at their locations.

I did my stamps through www.stamps.com.  They offer free 1-month trial, so if you cancel right away then it won't cost you.  They have a lot of good options and can do custom stamps for A LOT cheaper than stamps from zazzle.com.

For mine, I bought custom stamps with our engagement picture on them. I think it cost me $2 for a sheet of 25 blank stamps, then we printed the postage value on them at home.  That isn't bad for custom stamps. They have a more expensive option for a "photo stamp", but they also have the cheaper option to download any picture for custom stamp, so I just downloaded our photo for it and it worked fine. I also added our wedding date, location & names to the image.  Plus, then you only print the postage you need, so you aren't spending a bunch of money on weird value stamps that you will never use.  And if you need different values of postage (say for RSVP), you can print those on the same stamp labels, just with different value.

I had never heard of anyone doing this before, but I can across it during my "cute stamp" search and it worked out perfectly for me. And I have had several people comment on my stamps and how impressed they were.

  • I would order the wedding cake stamps.  But that's just me.   Shipping is pretty cheap on the USPS website.
