  • Yep.  I agree.  Got a problem with it?

Me too, @buddysmom80, but since chopping my hair off last week, I've found the 'fuck it' option a little more difficult.  I barely have enough length to do a ponytail, and my hair has to be pretty much straight for it to hold.  That's the one major drawback to this new style I've got.
But you look so pretty! It's totally worth it.

D'awwww.  Thanks!  I do love the look.  It's just a little more work than before.
True that. That's one of the main reasons why I don't go cut it all off. Especially when I look at my e pics and think how cute my short hair used to be. But then I remember I couldn't just braid it when I got lazy, which has been every day lately.

  • Neutrogena T-gel it is! Thanks, ladies. So fucking tired of this problem. I'd go back on the pill, but I have an IUD and also I don't want to re-gain those 25 lbs.

  • @Elle1036 - have you tried to work with the natural waves that are in your hair, so you don't have to style with heat every day?
  • I'll throw mine out there.  I'm a Redkin girl for both color and styling/cleansing.  When I was a red head it saved my color and now what I am back to blonde I alternate between the gold bottle and the moistuizing purple bottles.  Ulta usually has a sale a couple times a year on their big bottle for like $16 each and I stock up.  I usually go through only 2 bottles a year since I only wash my hair every 3-4 days.  I like Redkin guts for root volume and I use Pureology anti split blow dry cream for drying my hair.  I put a dab of argon oil on the ends every day to keep them from looking frizzy.

  • So the general advice I'm gleaning from this is essentially to find the right combination of products and invest in the quality stuff.  Cool.  Can do.

@cocobellaf -- Sometimes I can make my hair look ok without heat styling, but it requires an alchemical combination of product and weather that I just can't rely on for days I have to be seen by other people.

  • Stuff I like:  Redken Shampoos/Conditioners, especially the Color Safe stuff.  I also use Redken Argon Oil, Smooth Down and the Heat Protect spray, which you might want to try.  The spray protects your hair from heat styling but also helps set your style.  It's not cheap, but it works.  I also like Bed Head Dirty Little Secret Dry Shampoo for the Day 2 styles.  I can't go more than 2 days, because there's usually a workout in there, and I sweat like a man, including in my hair.  Gross.

As someone who colors her hair darker (although I haven't colored my hair in about a year and a half), I've been reminded to use cooler water on my hair to keep the color in longer.

I have a more obnoxious and embarrassing hair problem ... dandruff! It popped up once I went off the pill (?!). Head and Shoulders helps immensely, but I'd like to do something more to really get rid of it. I don't want to switch to another kind of dandruff shampoo unless it'll DEFINITELY help.

I seriously thought I was the only one who had that happen????
  • @cowgirl8238 THANK GOD I wasn't the only one! I mentioned it to my hairdresser (who's my age and had gone off the pill the same time I did) and she was like, "Um, no, I have never heard of this."

  • @phira it doesn't necessarily mean that is the cause but it I definitly think it was...going off the pill was one of the best things I did for myself (even though i had and still have no intentions of getting pregnant), even with the sometimes strange results!
  • Got the T/Gel tonight and tried it. Dear lord, it is quite smelly! And it doesn't lather very much. We'll see how it works.

My partner's going to try it, too. He's got SOMETHING on his ear that's either eczema or psoriasis or something, and we're going to see if maybe using T/Gel will make it less horribly itchy and red.

  • @phira I know anti-dandruff shampoos work for some skin conditions. My little sister gets some sort of fungus that causes white spots on her back and shoulders. Her derm instructed her to use Head & Shoulders on it as a body wash and when she uses it consistently it clears up immediately.

  • @Elle1036, I'm super late to this, but it could be the color your salon uses isn't right for your hair. Clairol's pro line doesn't cover that great on my hair and fades quickly whereas Wella goes weeks without fading. Even Redken's demi line is a little iffy on my hair.

I definitely agree with Buddy about a blue or violet tinted shampoo to stop brassiness.
