My Intro

Hello Ladies!
I joined theknot.com about a month ago when I got engaged- June 8th, 2012 but have not yet formally introduced myself. My name is Kaitlin and my finace's name is Justin. We met about 4 years ago when we were introduced to eachother from a friend we had in common. After we met, we went on our first date later that week, and as they say, the rest is history!

We are getting married on Sept 14, 2013 and our reception is at Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort. We already have our DJ and have narrowed down a photographer as well. Our colors will be navy, grey and a touch of lime green. We are still deciding on whether to get married in church or on site at our reception venue and I have yet to even start dress shopping...still need some more courage for that !!!

I appreciate all the good advice that is available on these boards and look forward to getting to know some of you!

Congrats and welcome! Have fun planning as pp said you have some time but know certain designers take 6-9 months!

dress shopping to me was the worst! There are literally thousands of dresses out there and your expected to narrow it down to one!! omg... it was soo hard... Def. give yourself plenty of time with the dress and another word to the wise pick your vendors early. Especially in PGH they seem to go fast ( the good ones). I am still kicking myself for not getting the photgrapher I REAAAALLy wanted. It may seem like a long way away but believe me vendors are being booked. I literally booked my makeup and  hair  1.5 years out -- crazy...

Welcome and congrats!!! Personnally, I was really shocked at how far out hair and makeup is booked in Pittsburgh, so I would suggest to start thinking about that if you want on-location services. As far as the dress goes, don't stress! I only tried on around 8 dresses before I found the one, and then it came in earlier than expected (3 months!). Just enjoy planning and being engaged

Thank you everyone! I have the reception venue booked and they are holding a space for the ceremony in case we cannot get our date at our local church. I was however thinking about starting to look into hair and makeup people very soon. Then the photographer we are looking into already said she is available so we just need to make a decision on that...So I have a good jumpstart! Im one of those people that wants everything done yesterday

I think I am going to go dress shopping in two weeks just to find a style that is best on me out of all the millions of options out there! I am only 5ft so my fear is that I will look somewhat of a "child bride" which is why I am so nervous to go and actually try them on haha!
