So..many...acronyms..!

I'm new still to the discussion board stuff and don't understand all of the acronym stuff. There's a whole lot and they're confusing!
Case in point, what do these mean, and if you can think of any others to help me it would be much appreciated!
MIL (Mother in law?)
GM (Groomsmen?)
BM (Bridesmaid?)
SIL (Sister in law?)
*FH (future...husband?)*
*FI  (future..in-law? fiance?) *
DW (?)
DH  (?)

Re: So..many...acronyms..!

  • You're right on for MIL, GM, SIL and FH. BM is bridesmaid or best man, depending on the context. FI is for fiancé, DW is destination wedding and DH is darling husband.
  • A couple other common ones on TK are

    PPD = Pretty Princess Day (which means the couple is already legally married and having a big, overblown vow renewal)

    AW= Attention Whore

    ETA = Edited to Add

  • I saw "your SO" a couple minutes ago too. It takes more time to try to guess what they are than writing them out it seems like haha :)

  • I figured the majority of the acronyms out just by reading the posts haha. Could never figure out what AW was o.O Thanks for posting this!!

    OP = Original poster correct?

    I know this isn't an acronym but why do some people  say "their special snowflake"? From when I've seen it, it's in reference to a discussion about children.

    Special Snowflake is what we call brides who think they are more special than any other bride out there, who think they should be able to do whatever they want b/c it's their wedding day, regardless of whether or not it is rude or offensive to her guests.

    ETA: Yes, OP is original poster.

    Oh so the brides who say "in our circumstances" ??

  • Well, some people DO have unique or special circumstances, but most of the ones who think they do, don't. And most of the ones who think their friends and family will be fine with something, have no understanding of the concept that their friends and family often won't be truthful about their feelings b/c they don't want to hurt the bride and groom's feelings. So they have an "It's OUR wedding, and we will do what WE want" attitude.

  • There was a thread here in Chit Chat not too long ago asking this same question.....

    The majority of TK acronyms are linked under FAQ's.
