Hey everyone. I have been lurking for a while, deleted my old account, and created this new one recently. I never did an introduction and am still nervous to post on a real board. I know nothing about weddings or really much about life yet, but I have really enjoyed soaking in everyone's wisdom. Since I haven't got the guts to respond to a real post, I'm starting here with an intro :) I am from Colorado and am in my last year of my undergrad in music performance. My SO and I have been talking about getting married next fall and have timelines planned out, but we want to have a short engagement so I'm still waiting for those four special words. Til then I'll just continue lurking in the background!

Screen Name: Shaivana

Age: 21
Significant Other's Age: 24
What You Do: Music student (Flute)
What SO Does: Music student (Tuba)
State of Relationship: Lovely
How Long You've Been Together: 2 years
How You Met: KKY volunteer meeting (neither of us are actually brothers)
Wedding Date (if you're engaged/married)N/AHence the "NEY" post.
Real Babies: None for a while
Fur Babies: Nope, I have a fish named bubbles
Loves: Music, Jesus, baking, knitting, socializing
Hates: Human Trafficking or any other form of slavery
Pet Peeves: I hate it when people I don't really know invade my personal bubble and touch my hair or face
Hobbies/Activities: Work, school, performing
Favorite Thing About Your SO: He has great personal hygiene and is very patient and always thoughtful. Oh, and he is a firm believer in chivalry ;)
Least Favorite Thing About Your SO:
He doesn't understand how great he is so it's sometimes hard to get him to understand how much he means to me
Describe Your Personality: I am quiet and simple when you first meet me, but really outgoing when I am comfortable. I love making people laugh and making them feel loved.
Snark Level (1 [low snark] - 10 [high snark]): Pretty low, like a 2. I'm not one to bite unless someone pushes me to bite back.
I've Been On TK SinceA little over a year. I had another account and deleted it cause I was getting too caught up with wanting to plan my wedding. It didn't help with the patience since we've been talking about getting engaged for about 10 months now
How You Came to Be On TK: My SO and I had been talking about getting married and we definitely know it's what we want to do. I can't imagine my life without my partner in crime :) I went to a bridal show with a friend and this TK was brought up a lot. I basically went to it to get ideas for her wedding, but thought I'd stick around and keep it as a source for when I'm planning my own wedding some day.
How I like my potatoes: Hash browned
Favorite book/authorI love thrillers and allegories. My favorite author is Ted Dekker!
Tell Us Something Interesting About Yourself: I'm a pretty simple person who never expected to be in a serious relationship and wasn't looking when I met my SO. He's actually my first BF, first kiss, first everything and I am so glad that he is the one to show me what it's like to be so in love! I'm also not a mushy person...

Re: Newbie intro :)

  • Welcome! Don't be nervous, the ladies here don't bite unless provoked. I'm a newbie and I was welcomed with open arms :)

I find it interesting that one of your favorite things about your SO is his good hygiene. That's not really something you hear every day.

I'm currently studying -cough- procrastinating -cough- for finals. Do you have finals coming up soon?

How cold is it currently where you are? I hear Colorado has been VERY cold recently.

    What's your favorite smell/scent?

Welcome to NEY. What's your favorite thing to bake? What kind of music do you listen to (I see you and your BF are quite musical, which is awesome)? I'm with @FoxandBunny - pretty interesting that your favorite thing about your BF is his excellent hygiene.
  • Welcome! What's your favorite winter activity/
  • Howdy!

    Wedding Countdown Ticker

  • Welcome to NEY! Don't be too scared to post! It's always intimidating to break into a new community but the only way we can get to know you is if you speak up! So post away! :)

  • Welcome! What part of Colorado are you from? I considered law school at Boulder, but ended up going elsewhere. I LOVE Colorado though, it's beautiful in every season. Do you ski/snowboard?

  • Wow you are all so nice, thanks for the warm welcome. I suppose it does sound sorta weird that I like my SO's hygiene, he really is super clean tho! :P

@foxandbunny What are you studying in school? I've got finals this week too and I am have been "studying" all weekend! Today is one of the warmer days in Colorado, it's 7° right now.  Favorite scent is caramel apple.

HE IS THE BEST. One of my favorite albums that I own is his performances of Ibert's Concerto (and solo flute piece) and the Khachaturian. I love the Khachaturian Concerto so much that I'm going to be making paper flowers with (copies of) the sheet music for my bouquet.

(I was a serious flute and picc player throughout middle school and high school, but stopped playing very much in college, so my flute expertise is weirdly spotty!)

Ya he is really amazing!! I think it's the best version of the Ibert I've heard cause that piece is dang hard. That's really cool that you used to play flute, it's great to be involved in music in some way. Love your paper flowers idea :)
  • I am a History major, but I also am in the marching band at my school. I'm in the color guard, but I played tenor sax in high school. I decided I didn't have time to do both in college (plus I sucked at playing sax).

I had my first final today, and it was kind of brutal. Did your finals start today as well?

Also, that is freezing cold! Of course, I'm from the deep south, so anything below 40 degrees is really cold to me.

Good job for getting your first final over with. Luckicly I didn't have any finals for today, so I have my first one tomorrow morning.

Is it actually above freezing where you are? It seems like the whole US is iced over right now.
  • Thanks! Good luck on your final tomorrow.

It is above freezing right now. It's actually about 50 degrees, but it's warmed up a lot since yesterday and earlier today. It was in the 70s here last week, then went down to low 30s over the weekend. But I'm in Alabama, so take that into consideration.

  • Hi! Welcome to the boards! I'm in Colorado too! I'm not enjoying this cold weather but at least it's warming up a bit this week :)

Also I played the flute for 6 years! I gave it up after high school though, although I still pick it up every once in awhile.
