Snarky Brides

Gonna be one of those "cute" BMs

So I've snarked on a wedding that I'm a BM in quite a few times lately, I love the bride, but it's just ridiculous what she is doing. So far we have: no ceremony chairs, requesting gift cards and cash on the website, telling guests what type of clothes/shoes to wear on the website, and letting half the BMs bully her into a different dress for them after the other half already purchased them. Silly me has thought, "okay, this is it, it can't get any worse".

Her new favorite ideas, buying us all matching necklaces for our BM gift (that has a cute little poem on the box) and matching sweatpants to wear the day of:

She posted these on her pinterest page, exclaiming how cute they both are and that they are "a must!".  And of course, while not all pinterest ideas come true for most people, hers have been scarily accurate to this point. I want to say something soooooo bad, but I don't trust myself. Just thought you ladies would get a good laugh!

  • Because you definitely need every stranger you encounter to know what your name is.

I just want to know if she is really thinking we would wear these again, because yeah, that's exactly how it would be!

    @Rebl90

I am sorry you have to go through that. Hopefully she wakes up soon and realizes this is not ok. Lol.

  • Thanks @hlvonb, I mean I love her so I'll wear them that day if she gives them to me because I want her to be happy, but as a bride I can't imagine what some of my BMs would say if I suggested it (however she's one of them so she would love it!)

  • I love Pinterest, but there are many things on there that are oh so wrong! And the matching BM stuff is a big one. Monogrammed button down shirts to wear while getting your hair done! These sweat pants! Monogrammed robes! Monogrammed totes... make up bags...etc. etc! Cheesy WP photos with signs!
  • They might be comfy enough to lay around the house in., but yeah, no thanks.

  • Why would anyone ever want their name on a pair of pants?!!?? Ugh. I'm sorry you'll have to wear those.
  • Well, you'll have a new pair of pants to clean your house in.

It really sucks that so many brides sever relationships because they're crazy. I wouldn't be able to forgot the couple treating guests shitty.
  • wow..really? I'm going to guess that this bride is young- under 22 at least.

  • You know the bad thing? I saw those sweatpants and thought "Enh, could be worse". But thats probably because my one pair of sweat pants is starting to fall apart and I never wear sweat pants outside the house.

Hopefully they're comfy for cleaning/sleeping. Best of luck for the rest of the wedding.

  • I'd be tempted to secretly get the other BMs (are they annoyed at this bride's lack of etiquette/whatever else like you?) to wear the wrong sweatpants the day of.... She will probably be so busy she might not notice until she gets the pictures back.  Hah. But I'm terrible... good for you for taking this in stride and being a good sport.
  • WHY do so many brides think that the monogrammed things and "get ready together shirts" are so great??? If you and your BM are getting ready together, can't everyone just wear whatever they want??? or is that because some women want those "getting ready photos" of everyone all matchy matchy??? This is a trend I haven't yet come to understand and as I plan my own wedding and BM gifts just can't wrap my head around it.

(semi unrelated question for everyone - did you do the getting ready pictures with your bridal party? if not, did you wish you had??)

  • I'm planning to get myself a matching hoodie and sweatpants where the hoodie says "Mrs. FI'sLastName" on it because we are hosting a farewell breakfast Sunday morning for our guests and i think it will be funny.  I am completely wearing it as a joke.  But i would NEVER assume my bridesmaids would want anything with their name or the word "bridesmaid" on it, for any reason.  i don't even like the "let's all wear matching robes" idea...because all it is is a photo prop and not a real gift.  Some people are the worst.
  • @delujm0 I like how you put it, that it's a "photo prop"... because really, when you think of your bridesmaids as individuals and what they like does "matching monogrammed robes!!" immediately come to mind?? ha!

Several years ago, for my sisters bachelorette, me and her other MOH got her a monogrammed tote with her new monogram on it. But we love totes. I love totes because I'm a crazy librarian who can't have enough totes, so I will welcome any purchse of one. With or without my monogram. Including makeup bags. I LOVE BAGS!

  • I also think Pinterest has had a lot to do with these types of trends...

  • Lol those sweats somehow remind me of highshool pe uniforms! Gosh I hated those days even though I love exercise

  • It just got better......

She posted the photo that says, "I'f he doesn't cry when he sees me walk down the aisle, I'm turning around" and said underneath it, "haha! So true!"

I think I may comment on that...any suggestions?

I wish I was making this stuff up folks!

  • Maybe she just re-pinned the pin without changing the comment? Hopefully?

Its a possibility, but I doubt it, it's her "serious" wedding board and she clings to everything on it.

^ Can you post a picture of a knife and be like "Just give this to his best man, I know I would cry if someone stabbed me!  Not only will he be crying, but bleeding for you! <3!!!!!!!"

I don't get the whole turning around if the groom isn't crying thing.  Although, it's a great way for guests to know that deep down, you really are a bitch.

    *STUCK*

I laughed so incredibly hard, that's great!

  • @alisonmarie658- At least now that you get to redo your wedding, you'll now have great ideas from Pintrest on *tasteful* ideas on how to put out a "honeymoon jar", have guest address their own envelopes, and ways to alienate your nearest and dearest!!

  • PS- I don't understand getting a wedding dress where guests can *practically* see if you remembered to get a bikini wax before your wedding or not.

I'll have the money to get one because I'll have a "Bride's Beauty Fund" jar at my bridal shower.
No no no, just order it from one of those designer knock off sites from China. . . cause that ALWAYS works out great!
