writing out states when addressing..

So, I'm starting to get my invite addresses on my envelopes. I was wondering are we suppose to write out the state on it?

I would, I personally like the look of provinces (or states, being Canadian I have a hard time figuring out what state goes with which 2 letters) written out vs acronyms
EX. BC Vs British Columbia- It just looks better and more formal.

But if I got it with BC I wouldn't side-eye it... really personal preference

You can do it either way but if you want a very formal look, then writing it out would be best.
