~jennybean2010~

We are getting our e-pics taken at PPG Place Ice Rink on Tuesday.  Your photos are great!

Did your photographer actually come on the ice?  Was there any push back from the rink staff?

Did you give them the heads up that you were going to be taking photos?

TIA!

    yay!!

we did not give them a heads up. we had ours done on a sunday, so i thought it would be fairly empty (it kinda was, kinda wasn't). our photog didn't trust herself on skates with her camera, and they would not allow her on the ice without skates (she tried), so she stood to the side. to be honest, i'm not sure it would have been any different if she had ended up on the ice with us. i can't tell from the pictures, but i'm biased of course!

i tried to convince them to allow us to take hockey sticks on to the ice with us, just for the purpose of pictures..but they absolutely refused. they also absolutely refused to hold them behind the counter for us. which was why we had to do photo's with the hockey sticks while sitting on the bench rather than on the ice. i am contemplating seeing if i can convince them to allow us on the ice with sticks on the day of the wedding (our photog said that sometimes when dressed in your gown some places are more lenient), but they were so insistent on sticking to their rules that i'm not expecting much from them.

regardless, we had tons of fun doing the shots at the rink! we started there, and had fun just skating for awhile. our photog would stop us and tell us when she wanted to pose us, or to skate around the rink doing something specific (easier said than done for me! i can stand on skates and slide across the ice...but i can't do more than that! FI played hockey so he tried to help me, but some of it was a lost cause).

have fun!!! during the weekdays are a pretty good time for the rink-it's pretty empty then-so you guys shouldn't be bothered by anyone else around you! good luck!

    I'm looking forward to it!

DF plays hockey, coaches hockey, teaches hockey so he is a natural on the ice.  I on the other hand, can skate but nothing backwards/fancy.

I wanted to buy figure skates (I thought they would be cute).  DF REFUSED to have me in figure skates.  He said "No fiance of mine will wear figure skates, you will have hockey skates" And the next day I had a new pair of hockey skates. :)

Hopefully you can get on the ice with your sticks!  I would just do it anyways! haha  Are you getting wedding pictures downtown?

    o.m.g.
I SAID/PLANNED ON DOING THE SAME THING AND GOT THE EXACT SAME RESPONSE!
i was going to pick up cheap figure skates. i mentioned this. received a "noway, no how, not gonna happen" response. by the end of the weekend i was the proud new owner of a pair of nike vapor hockey skates. lol. i do love them though. it only gives FI a reason to convince me to go skating with him more often, so that i get his moneys worth!

where does he coach hockey? FI wants to get back in to playing, but doesn't have the time. i wish he would get back in to it somehow, it makes him so happy.

yes, we're getting pictures downtown the day of! we're all about the urban shots. i'm getting ready at the hilton, so we plan to do pictures there, at the rink, possibly at the pennsylvanian (if they allow it) and possibly over at the omni (they have an alley that our photog did a wedding session in and we loved it!). we'll do mt washington overlooks, incline and shiloh street after the ceremony, since that's where our venue is and where we live..so it all kind of makes sense :)

    enjoy those hockey skates!!!!

    I love it!

DF coaches for Keystone Oaks.  He plays in an adult league at the Ice Castle in Castle Shannon.  He plays on Thursdays LATE, like 10:30/11pm.  At least he has gotten over me coming to watch, way past my bed time!

I'm glad someone else understands a "hockey player".  They are a different breed! J.K.

The team that your FI plays for do they need extra players?  DH is a hockey player too and we live near Ice Castle.   I've been trying to get DH out to join a team or coach...something. I think he misses it so much!
