dress?

I have a very small wedding dress budget so I was thinking that for my dress I could get a regular formal white dress from a department store but I wasn't sure if this would give the wedding a traditional feel. Also I was thinking maybe I could get one of ebay but I'm worried the dress could be damaged or not fit right. opinions?

What's your budget? I went to a wedding where the BMs wore a dress from Alfred Angelo's Disney collection where it had a small slit in the front but then a short train in the back. I think in white that would make a very pretty wedding dress, especially if you change out the belt to something with a little bling to it.

But you could definitely be completely bridal in a lovely white formal dress from a department store.

Target has an affordable wedding dress line.  I believe its only available online.

 

ETA  Target.com then put wedding dresses in the search box.  There are only 4 or 5 and they are only 99.00

A department store dress can absolutely be as bridal and formal as you want! It's all about how you feel in it. Same goes for bridesmaid dresses. I'd also see if there are any consignment bridal salons in your area -- they usually carry samples as well as consignment dresses, and can accommodate a variety of price points.

I'm hoping to spend around 125 or lower but my max is 175. I'd love a ball gown but I don't think that's possible with my budget.

$175 probably wont get a ballgown A ballgown takes a lot of fabric and structure. You can always talk to a seamstress and see how much a simple petticoat would cost you to give the skirt a bit more umph. 

BUT! $175 can get you a beautiful bridal-feeling gown. David's Bridal has a lot of dresses under $175 as do department stores. Some ideas for you with a very bridal feel:

i would contact some bridal boutiques where you're located, i went to get my dress yesterday and they had a rack of designer samples from last season for $199 and they had a extra 20% sale they were doing.

and depending on your size (because they're always extremly limited) check davids bridal sale and outlet on their site, here are a couple ball gown-ish dresses

In addition to the PPs advice: There are a lot of places that will be cranking out sales during the holiday season. They have to make room for their spring samples that will come in.

You can get some beautiful dresses in sample sizes for right around your budget. Check by calling local wedding dress salons as they may not be posted online.

There is a great website called preownedweddingdresses.com ... you can narrow your search by the price range. It's pretty awesome, some nice stuff there for an extremely low price. Alternatively, my mom's friend borrowed her wedding dress and it turned out great. You could let your wedding dress be your "something borrowed" if you have a friend close in size to you!
