STD's - Addressing inner and outer envelopes

Ok ladies, remind me, is this how I should ddress them?  Example:

Outer envelope:

Mr and Mrs John Smith

123 Main Street

Town, ST 12345-6789

Inner envelope:

Mr and Mrs John Smith or The Smith Family or John, Mary and Sally

Re: STD's - Addressing inner and outer envelopes

  • For STDs you don't need the outer and inner envelopes-you can just have outer envelopes.

For both STDs and invitations, the outer envelope can be addressed to the "lady/gentleman/couple" of the house-you don't need to include on it the names of everyone included in the invitation.

Inner envelopes would get used with invitations only.  If you don't use inner envelopes with invitations (not required if the invitation is not formal), then the outer envelope would read:

    Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
    Miss Sally Smith
    or Ms. Sally Smith
    123 Main Street
    Town, ST 12345-6789

    The inner envelope would read

    Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
    Miss Sally Smith
    or Ms. Sally Smith

Boys would be addressed as Mr. James Smith in a separate line under their parents' name.
