Weekend recap

I'm starting this early because I have exciting news AND have to work what seems like all day tomorrow.

Friday we packed. And had dinner with some friends at this seafood place. My food was gross but I blame myself cause I ordered BBQ at a seafood place (at least the hot crab dip was yummy as an app). It was good times and we will miss em. Can't wait to see them again at the wedding!!

Saturday we packed all day. And threw out a lot of stuff. I made homemade chicken parm for dinner (which was delicious) and we ate almost all of it (I made 1 lb of chicken and like 8 oz of angel hair - this does not normally happen!)

Today, fi ran an 8k. He finished which is awesome. His time was also a lot better than he expected. I was SO COLD as a spectator but I got awesome pictures of both FI and his friend that was running. Then we packed more. And I went to work for two hours. And then ate homemade meatloaf. And ate the whole thing. Apparently packing (and running) makes us hungry. Now we're vegging as we are about 90% done packed.

And finally....we just ordered our wedding invitations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They should be here (well at my moms) by the end of December (thank you wedding paper divas for being so expeditious so I don't have to wait for a long time)
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton

Re: Weekend recap

  • Friday was my sisters graduation so we had some family time after that. I had a horrible headache so my parents watched the baby and I fell asleep from 6pm-8am, it was AMAZING!

Saturday I did some shopping with my dad and hung out around the house for the morning. BF got down to my parents house earlier than expected which was exciting. I baked cinnamon raisin bread with my grandma and it turned out really well.

Today we got our Christmas tree, watched Christmas movies, and I made jambalaya for the first time, it was great!

Overall it was a wonderful weekend :)
  • I had a super lazy awesome weekend. Friday night I went out and bought a Christmas present for my sister, and picked up some baking supplies and dinner. BF and I stayed in and drank beer and watched a movie. Saturday morning I got a text from the kid-I--babysit's-mother, letting me know that she decided to stay home from an event, so I didn't have to babysit at all that day. Although I was looking forward to the extra money, it was snowing pretty hard, so I was happy to get to stay in bed with BF and our pup. We slept until about 11 and then I made scrambled eggs and buttermilk pancakes. We basically vegged out on the couch ALL DAY and finished season 1 of Friday Night Lights (I'm obsessed). Oh yeah, and we had fantastic sexytimes.

Today we played with the pup in the backyard, I completely cleaned out our super-messy walk-in closet, and I made french macarons with a mint chocolate chip cream cheese frosting filling (yes, they taste like heaven). Now, I'm drinking wine while BF does some work, and I plan to get good and buzzed tonight since I don't have to work tomorrow. Good times.

  • Friday was hell at work, so I came home after that and crashed. Totally lost evening.

Saturday I had an eye doctor appointment - not terribly exciting, but it's awesome to be able to see, so that's something. My prescription changed a bit, so I ordered some fancy new glasses and frames. Then I worked some OT because staffing was abysmal this weekend. I was still exhausted from finals and Friday the 13th, so I didn't end up going to the masquerade. :( I'm pretty sure it ended up being a small event anyway on account of the snow, but I was still sad - just too tired to be able to enjoy it.

Today was pretty good. I slept in until like 9 for the first time in AGES! It was better than sex I tell ya. I finally cleaned all the shit out of my car that has been accumulating over the semester and had a good training session with Maggie. Then my group of friends went shopping and out to lunch, and it was awesome to get out and have some girl time. Then my mom, brother, and brother's roommate went out to dinner and had a great time together, and Mom and I went to DSW where I got boots! Retail therapy is truly a real thing. Now I'm just chillin' in my jammies and looking for tattoo inspiration - I think I'm gonna take the plunge on getting my first ink this winter. :) I have a few ideas but still thinking about exactly what I want and where I want it placed.
  • I am utterly exhausted. Opening night for the show was Friday it went well, Saturday we had a show in the bad snow but our second evening performance got cancelled.  We had another matinee today. I feel exhausted beyond anything my throat is sore I feel like I might be getting sick.  I am now 80% of the way through Divergent and I love it.  I only began reading it yesterday.

@Blue sounds like a great weekend tiring but a great one.  Yay for invitations!!

  • Friday H and I worked so that wasn't anything special.

Saturday we got up early and had a breakfast double date with a couple we're good friends with. Then all four of us went and saw the early showing of The Hobbit in 3D! So worth it! Afterwards we all sat around and talked about the differences between the book and the movie. It was great to see them again. Once we got home H and I did some deep cleaning of our house.

Today it was the children's play at church which was adorable! The wise men acting as the back up dancers/ rock stars stole the show.  Afterward H and I hosted a game night for our friends which was a lot of fun. Settlers of  Catan was a huge hit!

After everyone left, H and I opened our Christmas presents to each other since we'll be leaving to visit my folks later this week. H really surprised me! He got me an espresso machine! :D Coffee lover me is very happy about this! Now I can make my overly complicated drinks at home. :)

  • Friday was a work day.  Not super fun but Bossman gave me awesome news.  My promotion to shift supervisor will be effective as of December 30.  I wish it was now, but I understand that we're not going to have a lot of time these next couple weeks to train me.  It's official and I'm so excited.  I was not excited, however, to learn that there were some of my coworkers who were rather upset about it.  But I'm torn between the desire to have their approval (it's not the right word, but I can't come up with it) and feeling like I earned it by taking initiative and showing the leadership skills required.  And this process has been officially going on since October, but unofficially since June, so I feel like they should know and not be so butthurt about it.

Saturday I woke up rather ill, but still got up and went to BF's family's late celebration of Hannukah.  The food would have probably been more delicious if I wasn't trying to hurl.  I got told to stay home from work, but ended up getting called in for an hour and fifteen to cover breaks.

Yesterday was supposed to be my day off, but I got a call from an employee from another store and she asked me to cover her shift.  And since I pretty much can't say no, I didn't say no.  I really need to work on saying no.  I'm not sure if I'm going to get in trouble for it because I will have worked 7 days in a work week, but one of those days was only an hour and fifteen minutes.  I fully admit I shouldn't have said yes. I'm getting burned out right now.  I just want one week of work where no one asks me to come in early, stay late, or pick up a shift.  BF and I had dinner with some friends at a sushi place which was okay (I don't eat sushi, but cucumber rolls are delicious!).  We stopped out to get milk tea with boba after and then went home and I tried to go to bed early, which didn't happen.

  • @Blue - Yay for invitations! Show us which ones you went with?

My weekend was good. I went to dinner with my BFF on Friday and we drank A LOT. She ended up staying over and we were lazy on Saturday until she had to leave and then I was lazy by myself for the rest of the day. H got home from work and we ventured out into the snow storm to the Devils game. They won and Marty got the shutout which was exciting!

We continue our Breaking Bad marathon and I can say I'm finally hooked. It took until about the halfway point of Season 3 but I get the obsession now.

Yesterday, H and I parted ways for football. I drank too much (shocking) because the Eagles sucked and then when I got home, I was watching the Packers/Cowboys game and accidentally face-planted into my coffee table while cheering (you can laugh, H did). My arms are REALLY bruised and I can't wear the sleeveless dress I planned to wear to my Christmas party tonight because my coworkers will probably suspect my husband beats me if I do. Sigh.

  • @Blue yay!!! You will have to post a picture of them once they're in! Sending out the invitations was one of the most exciting things for me! I wanted to send them out so early lol.

This weekend was nice. We really just relaxed and got to see some friends. Saturday was my friend's grad party and she is related to my ex from high school who got married a month before I did. I was a little nervous about possibly seeing him and his family at the party but luckily it was just his parents and his sister. They were pretty normal and nice to me which is surprising seeing how they reacted to our break-up 5 years ago lol. Super dramatic...

Sunday H and I finally got a tree!!! It's only 7 ft. but we love it because it's our first real tree that we have bought without our families. We are going to decorate it tonight. We also put up lights last night. I love Christmas and all the decorations that come with it!

Today is my first day at my new job, I'm leaving in 10 minutes which is a nice change compared to when I left for my previous job. Hopefully everything goes well today, I'm a little nervous so I'm ready to just get the first day jitters out.
  • @blue yay for invites!!! Which ones did you end up picking out? I've used Wedding Paper Divas for bridal shower invites for my friend's wedding and they are great to work with!!!!

Friday night I got stuck at work because I locked my keys and ID in my office. So I had to run around campus finding a security officer. Finally found one and by the time I got my keys and ID, my commuter shuttle left. Thankfully BF was already home from work so he picked me up. From there we did our grocery shopping which was crazy because everyone was in panic mode for the impending snow.

Saturday we got up early and started making dough for Christmas cookies. We made peanut butter cookies, snickerdoodles, anginettis, sugar, chocolate chip and devil's food Ande's candy. I also made dough for cookies to use in a cookie press, but I broke the cookie press so I just made them to look like shortbread cookies. BF started playing an Xbox game that looked interesting to me, so I started playing that and stayed up a lot later than I should have!

Sunday BF woke up early to go to work, so I started baking more cookies. BF ended up calling out since he spun out on the highway. Apparently the state I live in doesn't plow on the weekends. He brought home coffee and munchkins and we baked more cookies, cleaned the house and decorated the sugar cookies. He ended up snow-blowing the driveway while I wrapped his Christmas gifts. Played more Xbox and I got a ton of knitting done.

I'm already tired of the snow, and we're suppossed to get more tomorrow. I have a doctor's appointment scheduled and I'm thinking I'm going to have to end up cancelling. This sucks since this doctor will be on medical leave for a "undetermined time". Time to start shopping for a new ob/gyn...

  • @Blue & White we are probably getting our invitations from Cards and Pockets, they are pretty cheap and they are real nice too.

I didn't want to go to sleep last night Divergent got really good just as I was going to bed. I hope I can finish it tonight.

    Anniversary

  • Friday after work, H and I had some deep dish pizza and then spent some time with my grandma.

Saturday was uneventful, except I spent a lot of time in the kitchen.

yesterday the kids at church had their Christmas program, and then last night we had our church Christmas party.

I slept like 2 hours last night.  I managed to lock myself out of the building and lock myself out of my work laptop all by 7:15 AM today.  tonight H and I are supposed to bake cookies for his coworkers, but I may need to nap instead!
  • @Blue & White Yay for invitations! I can't wait to see what they actually look like! From what you described they sound beautiful! I'm a fan of simple but elegant too.

This weekend was generally uneventful. Friday was pretty quiet at work so I was able to put some Christmas lights up on the bushes in front of our porch and I took Cinders to the dog park for a couple hours. The BF and I decided we really wanted to get out of the house for once so we went out to a local brew pub and had chili and all the beers.

Saturday morning we went to our general practitioner because BF has had an ongoing cough for over two weeks now. He doesn't have any mucus at all and the cough just won't go away. The PA prescribed some cough syrup for nighttime so BF can get some sleep and some sort of pill to reduce inflammation in his throat which is likely the cause of the cough. He has a followup appointment a week from today so hopefully the medication does the trick. We're both sick to death of him coughing.

The rest of Saturday we spent pretty much relaxing because it was gross and rainy outside. BF's cough syrup has codeine in it so he took some of that and vegged out on the couch and watched the Army/Navy game. I spent the rest of the afternoon wrapping all of our Christmas presents and then we vegged out together and watched TV.

Sunday we had a super easy quiet morning. We slept in and took our time making breakfast and reading the newspaper. Early in the afternoon we went up to Dahlonega, GA to get BF's grandma's Christmas present but unfortunately the pottery store was all out of the bowls she wanted. We walked around for awhile and had Cinders take a picture with Santa. Then we went further north to hiking next to some waterfalls T's coworker told us about. On our way we missed our turn for the waterfalls and passed by a hiking outpost that services people hiking on the Appalachian trail. There was a really cool tree next to the building that had worn out hiking shoes all over it. We turned around from there and finally found the recreation area for the falls but only had time for a brief 45 minute hike because it was starting to get dark. By the time we got home we were really feeling lazy about dinner so we decided to go out to a local German restaurant. They were delicious! I had saurbraten, red cabbage, dumplings, and mulled wine. It was a perfect way to end the day.

  • Happy Monday

Friday - FI and I made pizza and just watched TV

Saturday - I had my 1-year out appointment for my LASIK (yay 20/20 all around!).  I had a 20 minute teeth whitening session.  I don't notice a difference but FI said he did (I'm not 100% sold he's just not saying it to make me feel better).  In the afternoon/evening we saw Trans Siberian Orchestra - it was a great show.

Sunday - I worked while FI watched the Browns lose again.  We went out for dinner with FI's brother and his GF.

  • This weekend was just incredibly lazy. Snow made us stay in on Saturday since his Freemason Installation got postponed until next weekend which we can't go to anyway because we'll be at my parents'. Pretty much watched a LOT of Christmas movies, snuggled, played iPhone and iPad games (Dragonvale is addicting), and shoveled snow.

I managed to clean off all 4 cars on Sunday by myself while FI snowblew the driveway and salted. And we have more coming on Tuesday. Holy moly, snow, I love you, but I think I could deal with a couple days without a storm. Thanks.

  • Friday BF and I went to gaming.

Saturday I learned how to kitchener and sew my knitting, and I now have a functional pretty hat and scarf. They look good with the mittens I made last week. AW post if I get around to it.

Sunday I watched football while BF gamed.

Sorry for the lack of fun detail. BF and I have not been communicating well lately and it all came to a head last night. Basically I'm feeling like he's being condescending and treating me like I'm a particularly slow child, and he doesn't see it that way ... but it blew up into a pretty major fight and I'm still sore about it now.
  • I worked Friday night (we lost in overtime) and then went to my friend's house. She was supposed to do a Trash the Dress session on Saturday morning, and I was going to help her get ready, and be the dog wrangler for the day. We got up on Saturday and it was SO. COLD. Where we were going, the wind chill was -14, so her photographer cancelled (THANK GOODNESS.)

So, I just hung out at her house with the puppies all day, BF came over and we all watched Christmas Vacation and then had dinner together. I went back to work Saturday night (1-1 tie, ugh) and it took me almost an hour to get home because of the snow. It was treacherous.

Yesterday BF & I cleaned in the morning, watched some DVR, and I went to my bosses' house for a holiday party in the evening.

There is So. Much. Snow. We probably got about a foot.

  • Thursday we scored FREE Bronco's tickets. Unfortunately they lost, but it was fun to be at the game with friends!

Friday I took the day off and was completely lazy. I basically watched TV/movies all day long.

Saturday I went shopping for our office secret santa. Then met up with a co-worker for coffee. Went to a friend's baby shower that afternoon. Then H took me out for Sushi to celebrate our 7 years together anniversary. YUM!

Yesterday I ran a couple errands and did lunch with my girlfriends. I can't believe it's Monday already. This month is FLYING by!

  • Friday: left work, got nails done, went back to bfs and snuggled on the couch.

Saturday: got woken up to sexy times, snuggled in bed - called the plumber(his garbage disposal was leaking), went and helped bf Christmas shop, then took his daughter to get her nails done (she is 17 and was so nervous about asking me to take her... It was kinda cute), then we picked up coldstone ice cream on the way home. More couch snuggling

Sunday: hollered at the fucking shit show of a game for the Eagles. Almost killed bfs dog while cheering for the packers... He got in my way as I was jumping up and down - so not my fault.... Stupid fucking tony romo...
Other than that, went to bfs sons banquet for pop warner football, and played two rounds of Catan with the kids.

Started watching the bengals game, but got irritated by the bs officiating and turned it off for sexy time and early bedtime

All in all a good, snow free weekend :)
  • Saturday, I slept in and did nothing most of the day. When my partner got home, we had sexytimes and spent the rest of the night playing video games. Yesterday, we relaxed some more and then had dinner with his family. After dinner, we watched the Birdcage which is one of my FAVORITE movies. I hadn't watched it in years and was just DYING.

I am SO irritated with the snow. Dear homeowners, business owners, landlords, and management companies: YOU MUST CLEAR YOUR SIDEWALKS.

  • @allusive007 I'm pretty jealous of your free broncos tickets. I still think they're going to the Super Bowl. Even though my team (colts aka Peyton's old stomping grounds) clinched first lol

@keptinstitches I think I do that to FI sometimes and I try to watch it. I teach all day and I think I forget to turn it off at home. Although today he was super excited for me to come home cause the scanner was being an idiot to him (it worked for me on the first try but then wouldn't print anything for an hour ugh. We obviously need a new printer). I know it's frustrating but I think it's great you opened a line of communication about it. Plus I still love your knitting skills so that counts

  • Friday night, I worked.

Saturday morning, I woke up to NO snow storms, but had to go to work anyway and update our website with the non-existent weather news.

Saturday afternoon, just as the snow was starting, I got to leave work and go to the local minor league hockey game, which was super-fun.

DH and I then had to drive home (in two separate cars) in the crappy weather.

Sunday religious ed was cancelled, so I didn't have to teach, so I got to sleep in! Then DH and I went Christmas shopping, had a lunch out, and hung out at home. He went to work, I did MORE Christmas shopping, including finishing his surprise present.

I also did some work on the fingerless gloves I'm knitting, which made me think of @KeptInStitches. I can't wait to see the photos of your kitchener work!

  • Friday I went and got my hair done and we had D's friend's daughter over because she is going through a bit of a rough patch.

Saturday we went to the mall and D got me an early Xmas gift. Then we went to Khols and I got a new sweater. After we went to the dollar store and then to Safeway for groceries. We went home and I made turkey/pesto pinwheels and smores bars for my cookie exchange on Sunday.

Sunday morning we got up and turned on the Seahawks game which I watched up until half time when I had to leave for my aunt's. I got to my aunts and watched the 3rd quarter of the game. I ate way too much at the cookie exchange and when I got home with my goodies D ate ALL of the molasses cookies my mother made...I watched some of the post game shows and then the winter finale of Once Upon A Time.

  • @Kait- Dragonvale is SO addicting! How long have you been playing?

My weekend started Thursday as I finished finals on Wednesday. I had the house to myself as my parent's went up to Ohio for my cousin's graduation. This meant BF and I hung out all weekend. We played Mario on the Wii and had lots of sexy times and snuggle times.

BF was supposed to have family coming down for the holidays. They are moving from Virginia to Florida, and BF's house is on the way, so they figured they'd just stay a while on the way. But I'll get to that in a minute. They were supposed to be here Friday, then Saturday, then Sunday. They still aren't here yet. But this caused BF's mother to go on a cleaning frenzy (which needed to happen. It's 3 guys and her living in one house, and they don't really clean much. To be honest, the house is filthy.). But this took days. BF and I spent all Saturday just cleaning, even though we were supposed to be Christmas shopping. But she wanted the house cleaned in a particular way and order, and it totally messed with my cleaning mojo.

Anyway, BF and I have cleaned the upstairs multiple times this weekend and she still says it's filthy. Well, if you think it's filthy, why don't you get up from in front of the TV and come clean it more often? You can't trust and 18 and 20 year old guy to clean a house to your standard if you never show them how to clean in the first place. You just yell at them that it's not clean and then don't do anything about it! Sorry, this turned into a rant. Moving on.

Sunday my parents got back, and BF and I went to the zoo for their Christmas light presentation. It was fun and pretty, but it was cold. We got to ride the train, which was fun. We had a "fight" right before we left about things that had been building up for a while, and it was good to just let it all out. Well, fight is a loose term. It was more of raised voices saying what we felt at each other, and then figuring out how we could fix it.

Plus, I found out that BF is leaving tomorrow morning to go help his uncle's family move their stuff in Florida (they are going straight to Florida to move their stuff, then coming back up to BF's house  and won't be back until possibly Thursday and then he leaves Friday to go to the wedding that caused all the drama earlier, if any of you guys remember that post. He won't be back until Sunday, and then we have Christmas stuff all week until I leave for London on the 27. This means that all my time I had planned to have with him has just been zapped away. Let's just say I was/am not a happy camper.

On the plus side, I got my grades for this semester today and I made straight A's for the first time ever, so that made me really happy. My family took me out to eat to celebrate tonight, which was fun.

Sorry this post got really long. It turned into a rant, and I don't blame you if you just skimmed it all!
