Re: Shoes - fun or traditional..what are you doing?

  • OP have you tried looking at shoes on modcloth.com?

no but i will look...thanks for the suggestion!
  • I wore Louboutin's Libelle shoes. They were gold with blue, red and green. I wore a short dress so I wanted to wear fun shoes!
  • I finally got FI to cave and not tell me I'm crazy for wanting these. He almost died when he saw the price, but when he heard the dress I think is the one is only $500 he agreed!

  • I can't link the picture because I am Knot-photo-challenged. I got a fab pair of Kate Spade's for 60% off at 6pm.com. I had looked EVERYWHERE and just couldn't find anything that was 1. Cute 2. Comfy 3. Right height 4. Dance-able. I honestly thought finding shoes was way more difficult than the actual dress. If you don't find anything in person, I'd suggest online. Lots of sites have free shipping both ways so you can easily reaturn.

Fun shoes are definitely my favorite. I'm trying to find cute peep toe leopard print shoes (leopard print is my "thing" so I need to wear something leopard on my wedding day).

My daughter purchased and planned on wearing zebra striped shoes for her wedding.  The black and white striped pattern was her "thing".  Unfortunately, she broke her foot 8 weeks before the wedding.  She was no longer able to wear heels, but was just content to not be in "the boot" for her wedding day.  I love that brides are a little more free to express themselves on their wedding day.
Oh no!! I'm glad she wasn't in the boot for the wedding day. Did she  wind up wearing something else zebra print?
Sadly, the only other shoe in that print was a flat.  She needed a heel because the dress had already been hemmed.  She was able to find a black "sturdy" chunky heel.  It was not particularly fashion forward, but her concern was function and stability over fashion.  She was basically willing to put just about anything on her feet as long as she could be crutch and boot free.
  • Kerigirl9 & @jenni1221, I ordered 4 styles of low-ish heeled purple peep toes from Nordstrom & Zappos. I ended up keeping these:

I suck at heels, to the point that I was considering wearing flip flops. But I want to try heels for as much of the day as I can. Of the 4 styles I ordered, these seemed the most comfortable but I am going to start wearing them around the house soon to break them in.
  • I'm trying to find white canvas peep-toed shoes (low heel or flat).  I want to have my bridal party sign them in Sharpie after the ceremony so they are fun and personal for the reception.  Some of my bridesmaids think it's a little too informal, but I'd love to get some other opinions ;).  Here's the inspiration:

  • I wore ivory 3" heels I got half off when Priscilla of Boston was closing. They are dyeable so I'll be dyeing them black so I can wear them again. I wore those for the ceremony and switched out for flat ivory mary janes. I thought they might have been a waste of money but after the the ceremony my feet told me otherwise!!

  • I'm going to buy myself some awesome Jimmy Choos or Manolos (I've been saving extra for months) so my vote is fun shoes that you can wear again!
