Hair Dilemma

Soooo... I've decided to keep things simple and wear my hair in a ponytail for our wedding. Not too sleek -- something with a little volume, maybe a little wave/subtle curl to the tail, and I have long side bangs I'll be keeping. However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to accessorize my hair, or if I even should. A traditional veil won't work with a high pony, and I don't want a birdcage. I briefly considered some kind of hairpiece/hair pins, but they'd just look weird without anything else to weave around them (like the curls of an updo). I also want to make sure that whatever I choose ties in with my dress (see below, minus the belt). Thoughts?

How about a headband? Or a low to the side ponytail with a blingy hair clip?

Are you planning on a high pony or a low one?  I think either way, a headband could be really nice. I'm normally not a fan, but I think it could be a really nice compliment to that dress- wow!  I don't know if I just missed it when you posted on the dress thread, but let's just pump the breaks and talk about how gorgeous that dress is.  Eeeeek!  Love it.

So you said no birdcage veil - are you wearing a traditional length one or are you thinking of opting out altogether?  I feel like that might affect my answer.

@ohxhi I'm planning on a high pony. I briefly considered a low one, but a high one is more 'me'. Part of me almost wanted a traditional veil, but I just can't picture one working with a high pony, and I don't want it to compete with the dress because it already has so much going on. So I guess I'm opting out? Although I did see a birdcage-style tulle veil (as opposed to the usual net) that made me wonder if I should rethink... ETA: thank you for the compliments on the dress!!! I love how romantic it is, and the petals that come out from under the tulle are what sold me

If you do something like in the Reese Witherspoon photo (http://www.pinterest.com/pin/260857003389806768/) as that sounds like what you're describing, I don't think you really need anything else in your hair. But you could always try and find some type of sparkly hair clip/wrap thing that goes around the pony part (idk how to really explain it but here's some pics of what I'm talking about: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/13159023881713197/ and http://www.pinterest.com/pin/29906784998776976/).

Maybe you could consider (if you really want a veil but dont know what to do about it) going with one that just lays over your head.Like Kate middleton (maybe not as big though) that way you can just remove afterthe ceremony.

You're READING MY MIND! hahaha That's pretty much exactly what I was thinking, but maybe a little less 1960s with the hair (there's a photo of Kate Beckinsale with a really pretty pony somewhere on Pinterest, but I can't find it now). I also thought about the pony wrap thing last night, and wondered if I even need it.

I think your dress is gorgeous! I don't really think you need too much to dress up your hair if you're wearing it in a high pony especially depending what kind of jewelry you're wearing. Sometimes when I wear my hair like that though I will take a couple bobby pins with little sparkly things on the end and slide them into the front of the pony so there is a little sparkle in my hair, but not too much. Something like this:

You could just put them right on the side of your head.  Either one side or both.  That is my suggestion

What jewelry are you wearing? Your gorge dress! is perfect for a bling necklace and if you don't over-do it with headpieces, you could get away with statement earrings, too.

You could do a side accent, or a thin headband. One of my favorite tricks is to set the headband's lower edges INTO my hair-so the wire is covered, but the major design element shows.

Or...a small jeweled piece tucked UNDER the pony tail might work, and be unexpected.
