Oh, made-for-TV Christmas movies are the worst.  All those Lifetime and Hallmark movies starring someone like Dolly Parton or Melissa Gilbert or something.  Yuck.
Please refrain from taking Dolly's name in vain. She is an icon. But I agree about the tv movies. I was getting my nails done last week and they were showing one with Shannon Dougherty where she was some kind of jewel thief who is rehabilitated by Christmas. It was hilarious.
LOL... You're right, I'm so sorry for having offended thee, Mother Parton.

I love Parton too, actually ("Straight Talk", anyone?), but she's got some REAL Cheesy Christmas movies, and it's kind of hard to believe she's a guardian angel when her royal jewels are about to pop out of her Christmas sweater!

  • I like Christmas songs, but I have to be a mood to hear them.

I hate it when people spell Christmas as X-Mas. I just think its an eyesore.

  • @doeydo, my FI proposed to a girl on Valentine's Day (he was in his early 20s so I'll let it slide) and when she broke off the engagement she didn't give the ring back because it was "a valentine's day gift." oy.

I am not a huge fan of white Christmas lights - I prefer colored - the white ones are good for year-round on my back patio.

And I LOVE to wrap presents!!

    Happy holidays all!
  • 1. I detest Christmas songs.

    2. I hate "ugly Christmas sweater parties". They're not funny or ironic.

    3. I hate when people say "Jesus is the reason for the season!"

    4. I do however, actually enjoy Christmas shopping

    5. Christmas themed weddings are kind of strange. I find it rude to your guests to have a wedding so close to the holidays. I'm getting married January 30 and I thought that was really cutting it.

  • I'm not a fan of multi-coloured lights either, especially on the outside of houses.  I prefer white, I find it looks cleaner.  I don't mind colour if it's done in 1 colour (all red, all green, etc.).  But I seriously hate the lights that change colour from one to another, solely cos there's always a section where a new strand has been added in and they change colour at a different time and don't match the rest of the house lights.  Drives me crazy that they're not all the same.  I also hate tinsel on trees.  Not sure why, cos we always had it when I was a kid

  • I am not a fan of Christmas music other than the few days before Christmas

I say happy holidays, I work in customer service in a diverse area. I see problem in being PC. I actually try to be PC all year.

I support Santa haha. I can see how some may consider it lying but I think it's just fun. Not mall Santas though. Ugh. Who wants to stand in a long line to sit on the lap of a stranger? My kids (4 and 7) don't fully belive in Santa I don't think. We never talk about it, he's just around seasonally. It just adds to the fun.

I love drinking wine and wrapping gifts with FI Christmas eve night. It has become a tradition of sorts.

OMG that almost made me spit my water out! Too funny.
  • Oh gosh - let's see:

    I love A Christmas Story
I don't care one way or the other about Christmas engagements.  If it floats your boat go for it, if not - sorry about your luck.
    I love Christmas music
I say Merry Christmas but I am not offended if people wish me Happy Holidays.  If Happy Holidays comes from  your heart, I am humbled you think enough of me to give me your wish.  When I say Merry Christmas it truly comes from my heart. You can wish me Happy Holidays, Happy Hannukah, Happy Kwanzaa, whatever your thing is.  My thing is Merry Christmas.

I HATE PUTTING UP THE CHRISTMAS TREE.  HATE IT. Now...I like it once it is up but putting it up is the bane of my existence.  (I do like the part where DS puts all his nerdy Star Wars, Star Trek, and this year's addition - Knight Rider ornaments.)  I just hate setting it up and checking it over going "WHERE can I put THIS red ornament?  Oh wait, it is too close to the one over there...".
  • One more, not necessarily an upop op for everyone else but:  KELLOGG'S YOU RAT BASTARDS!!!! My SIL has to work a double when he goes in for the midnight shift on Christmas and doesn't get out until 3 pm on the 26th.  MY family Christmas is the 26th and you rat bastards are making him pull a double, go home for 8 hours and come back AGAIN for his midnight shift later that day.  Not feelin' the love here Tony!
  • At this time of year, I turn off my car radio and listen to traditional Christmas carols, sung by King's College Choir, Cambridge.  It speaks to my soul.  I am religious, and, while I like nostalgic Christmas tunes, I don't like silly  stuff, like "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer".  I recently left a store that was broadcasting Christmas rap music. Ugh!

  • I love that I got proposed to Dec 23 ( I thought he would propose Christmas morning...). I get a kick out of funny songs-Plow Boy, done to Bon Jovi''s Wanted Dead Or Alive, 12 days of Christmas where they're drunk by the end, that kind of thing. Hate having Christmas songs being played 24/7-they started in October this year!! I especially hate the nimrods who steal my parents' outdoor lights Every. Freaking. Year!!!! Buy your own!!!!!

GASP!  No!  Please tell me Christmas rap does not exist!  Lies, all lies, that is what I chose to believe.

You would hate my job. I have to put up six Christmas trees at work in the week after Thanksgiving. I always have to put up my own tree the weekend after Thanksgiving, because if I wait until later than that it will never go up.  By my third Christmas tree, I'm usually cursing Christmas and all Christmassy things.

It does exist! FI had radio dibs on way to church Christmas Eve. We listened to the rap version of Santa Claus is coming to town, Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, and a rap about wrapping presents :p

I like Santa for kids. I'm not a fan of mall Santas and I absolutely hate work parties where someone dresses up as Santa and expects you to take pictures with them. Oh hey Steve from accounting, I see you're rocking the Santa suit so of course I'll come sit on your lap! No, just no
