Hair??? Makeup????

So our To-Do post made me think...

What are you lovely ladies planning on doing with you hair??!!! :D  Oh and are you planning on having a makeup artist?

I have super long hair and I want to show it off at my wedding.  So I'm looking to do lots of pretty curls and then it pulled back off my face.  If any of you have ever seen Ever After with Drew Barrymore, her hair at the end of the movie when she is looking  at the painting is my dream, but I don't know how feasible that would be.  As far as makeup goes, I'm just so torn.  I don't wear makeup on a normal basis.  I own tons of it, but I don't use it all that often.  And when I do, its usually eye makeup and lip makeup.  I just don't want to feel like a clown on my wedding day, and a lot of times, foundation and coverup do that to me.  Anyways, I just need to go somewhere and talk to someone....

Here are pictures of what I think I'm doing for the wedding. My trial isn't until March so I'll have to make sure it looks good on me. The first pic is make up and the second is hair.

@kristen625 Maybe try a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation with concealor or a corrector if you have redness or blueness. I love BB creams but if you're having an evening wedding with flash photography, it's not good for that.

As for me, I'll be doing my own makeup because (1) i'm a germ-a-phobe lol & (2) I like my normal day to day look and want to recreate that. FI isn't big on me wearing makeup to begin with.

For hair, I want a braided updo like this:

Also remember that you probably will want to wear a little more makeup than you do on a normal day so that it will look nice in your photos. I wear very little makeup normally so I'm having a professional do mine because I don't want to look like I don't have any on in my pictures or look all washed out.

I'm having my hair and makeup professionally done.

I'm thinking something like the below photos for my hair -- just a simple, sassy ponytail. I considered every style under the sun, and this was the only thing that felt right!

As for makeup, I'm pretty fearless and wear a full face every day. I prefer a smoky eye in general, but I'm not shy of a bright, bold lip either. I just can't decide which I'd prefer for the wedding! Definitely don't want anything too dark or heavy, but I do like making a subtle statement with my makeup. I'll have to browse Pinterest for ideas haha

I'm having my make-up done professionally. I want to have a smokey eye but more natural. So here's my examples!! The comb pictures is actually my comb. I will have it on the top of the updoand my veil will be underneath.

Romantic Low UpdoI like this effect. Not too much not too little

Let me clarify...the picture of the comb by itself is my comb and i'll have a hairstyle like the one pictures with the comb placed in the same location

here's what my dress looks like to give a better idea of what im going for all together.

@Kristen625 i LOVE drew's hair at the end of ever after.  if yours is really long, I think it's totally feasible!  do it, do it!

mine is longer than shoulder length (and not getting cut until June!), but it is pin straight and will not hold a curl, so I'm going to have it up, low in the back.  Sorry if the pictures are huge!imageimage
I had always planned on getting my makeup done. I wear makeup every day, but it never looks very dramatic.  I like the idea of looking like a fancier version of myself- I definitely don't want to be washed out.  My makeup artist did my photographer's makeup for her wedding last year and she also happens to be the younger sister of a teacher that my photographer and I both had in high school.  It's such a small world.  She's amazing- she totally listened to what I wanted when she did my makeup trial on the day of our engagement session. I loved it.

@ ohxhi.. the top picture is one I have saved to my pintrest as styles I like! Funy stuff! It was one of the first ones I saw, but then I decided to go with the comb and looked for similar styles

@Kristen625-I love that look on her at the end of Ever After also!! I think you should go for it. With someone doing it, I don't see why it wouldn't be feasible.

I am having someone do my makeup for me. I like wearing make up and on the day of I want it to be one less thing for me to have to worry about!!! The looks I am loving are these. Copper/Plum smokey eye Make-up ideas

I want it to be smoky with a pop of color and sparkle.

I am still debating on my hair. I really want something that would be cute up and then easy to take down and wear down or half up and half down at the reception!

I've never seen Ever After. Does anyone have a picture of what her hair looks like?

Okay this is the best I could do.  I put the dvd in, and then took a picture with my phone of her hair once I paused the movie...I couldn't find a better image online either.  One is a whole view, and the other is a close up.  Sorry they aren't great.  And @dluberts, I love the eye makeup you posted.  I would like something like that

From what I can see of it that is a very pretty hairstyle. I bet something similar would definitely be doable.

I ma having my hair & makeup done professionally. I searched around to over a dozen different people/companies and finally found an amazing hair & makeup artist - she was super professional in getting back to me ASAP and with a PDF of her price list (not just copying & pasting my questions and adding her answers to it) and was also one of the cheapest/more affordable options (ummmm who's gonna spend $600 just for hair and then another $600 for makeup??!!! crazy outrageous!!!). Here's what I'd like my hair to be like: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/305259680963714561/ http://www.pinterest.com/pin/305259680963540826/ http://www.pinterest.com/pin/305259680963213540/ http://www.pinterest.com/pin/305259680963166596/ http://www.pinterest.com/pin/305259680962204692/ I also have a hair comb that will go on the back and then my veil as well. All of this.  I feel like a clown when I have my makeup done because it's a lot more than I normally wear but it looks amazing in pics.  Professional makeup was a must for me because our photo/video will be in HD.  YIKES!!

My hair I'll be wearing half up with a head band (that I haven't found yet) and a veil.  With curls.  I'm not a fan of my hair all up.

I'm afraid of looking like a clown too! I rarely wear makeup and it's very minimal. I just want to look like ME! But everyone I know says have a pro do it.sooo that I will. For my  hair, definitely getting that done too. Thinking a half up/half down because I don't feel like my neckline can pull off a total updo!

My hair will be up with some volume at the crown, and curls pinned up at the base. My headpiece for the ceremony is my mother's veil with a Juliet cap, so no additional accessories. For the reception, I'm keeping my hair in place, but switching out the veil for a glass "gemstone" headband. I've worn it once, on New Year's Eve last year (same hairstylist is doing my day-of, and I looked amazing and the style stayed for 3 days!).

Still working out the exact make-up. I have a professional doing it, and I like the idea of a light 60s-inspired cat's eye with a subtle smoke, and a coral/red lipstick to tie in my colors.

I will be doing my hair half up / half down. I have naturally thick black curly hair... so I'll pull some out of my face. Then I also have a tiara with swarovski crystals that I will wear. No veil for me, though.

I will also be getting my makeup professionally done. I hardly wear makeup... I have pretty sensitive skin. I've had it professionally done before, and it looked beautiful. I just can't afford the super nice stuff. The only thing I'm nervous about is my lips. I feel like with my super light skin tone I cannot wear any color :(

@kellibastien -- you can absolutely wear colour! Try something with more of a sheer formulation in a brighter colour for a little pop that isn't overwhelming.

Thanks! Maybe you're right... I just so often feel like any color makes me look/feel like a clown! Haha.

I would suggest buying a brighter, saturated lipgloss or sheer lip pencil (I love the Nars gloss sticks -- pricey but SO worth it!) and wear it when you're at home, all the time. Get used to seeing yourself with colour on your lips, and then it won't be as big of an adjustment for your wedding! A pinky coral is a great colour on almost everyone!

I'm also doing a half-up/half-down look, something along the lines of this:

I'm pretty adventurous with my everyday makeup. I love doing dramatic eyes :) I feel like a bold eyeshadow color really makes my eye color POP! Most importantly, I don't want to look like a different person on my wedding day. I want to look like me, just a little more polished than usual.

I'm not super talented in the make up department so definitely going professional. I have a make up artist in mind that a friend recommended. He's a little pricy but does an amazing job and even lets you keep some of the products free of charge.

I haven't found someone to do my hair yet and am not even sure where to start looking but the pictures are what I'm thinking for my updo. The second one came from an etsy listing for the headband, hence the price. but love the hair!

I am so stuck on what to do with my hair since it's short, it is currently an A-line bob style.. any suggestions?? The picture I attached is how I had it done for my engagement session but I'm not sure I LOVED it...

@lindsayrim2014 will you be wearing a veil of any kind of head piece? I think either way I would go to a stylist and ask if they have any suggestions. Also check out our other favorite site, Pintrest and search by short hair styles.

On another note I got my hair trimmed yesterday and I was talking to the stylist who was really sweet and could probably do my hair for the wedding only they don't do make up and I would have to go to the salon to get my hair done. That part would be fine if I knew for sure I was getting ready at my house but I don't know if that will happen for sure. I don't know, I guess I'll keep shopping around. Ugh so frustrating!

I love the hair on the blonde! That's how I want mine done, too. I have a jeweled headband to wear, but I want a lower updo. I want it to be soft and romantic, but "done" enough that I don't have to worry about it or fuss with it at all!

I want a smokey eye, but I am not a big fan of black racoon eyes. I want it to transition from gold to brown, and not white/silver to black, if that makes sense. I would post pics but IDK to do that from this computer lol
