BM Dresses

Alright, so here is my question of the day- I am trying to find some BM dresses for my girls. Since my wedding is in early March and is quite formal, I really want my girls in long gowns (they agree, as more fabric= more warm and they don't have to show legs in the winter).

However, I know that longer gowns are more expensive, and I have told my girls this. I really don't want them to have to pay a lot for their gowns, but I do want them to have nice long ones in the color I picked out (Davids doesn't carry the color). What do you guys think is a reasonable price range for long BM dresses?

My MOH is getting married in July and I'm in her wedding. She chose long BM dresses from DB that we paid $135 or so for. We also got a discount because she got her dress at DB, I think the dress was originally $150 or $160, which I would have been cool with paying as well.

So IMO, under $200 is fine.

As for your original question, it believe 'reasonable' is different for each person, but I'll say I've typically seen longer BM dresses for between 100-200? I'm not sure how much you'll find under $100...

I don't think that long dresses are ALWAYS more expensive.  I would ask your girls each individually how much they are comfortable spending (including alterations and shoes if you are going to make them wear the same shoe).

DB has some inexpensive dresses.  JS Boutique (sold at Nordstrom) has a variety of long dresses ranging in price from $98 - $108. Target has a long dress for about $40.   I would start with the prices your BM feel are resonable.

I talked to a couple of my bridesmaid just now and they all said the same thing basically- they expect somewhere between $200 to $300 (though would prefer under $250 or as cheap as we can get it obviously). Which is certainly feasible. I just relaly hate to make my girls pay a lot.

One thing they do really want is also to have different styles in the straps (ie- all the same color, length, and fabric, but in strapless, one shoulder, halter, etc). They have such different shapes that they really prefer this, as do I.

I have looked Davids Bridal a few times, and they just don't have the color I like.... :-(  I told my girls I would go in and try to see the color swabs just in case though.

MRads- I never thought about Nordstrom. I'll definitely check their stuff.

Panther- I've seen both clover and celadon in person... a lil too green :-( Pretty dresses though...

G- I kept looking at Dessy and I couldn't find the colors! I just found the huge color swab though! This might just work...

Try Bill Levkoff, Jordan, and Bari Jay.  I think they all have styles that seem to be along the lines of what it looks like you're envisioning, plus a variety of necklines in similar styles.  I chose this Bill Levkoff dress in solid pewter - it was $230, but we ordered from bestbridalprices.com and got them for around $175 (and you can search for coupon codes).  Haven't received them yet as order was just placed, but the reviews were good so we gave it a shot!  HTH

G, I was going to suggest something like that.  The wrap-convertible dresses look really neat, I think.  One of the girls I went to HS with got those for her BMs and it was a nice effect.  My only concern is that I'm super dorky and uncoordinated, and would worry that I wouldn't be able to get it wrapped right.

About the convertible dresses... If you have anyone in your bridal party that is even somewhat well endowed, they might not be able to wear that type of dress. They are unstructured and off zero support.

Thank you so much for the suggestions!

I love the wrap dress too, but I have 3 girls with size D to over F chests... So yeah, I don't think they would be big fans.

I made the appointment to see dresses, however my MOH can't come up that weekend now due to work. I'll still go to the appointment though to narrow down my choices and that way when she comes in she can just start trying dresses on and pick one she likes.
