So our reception venue has a requirement of 150 paid ADULT dinners (ages 11 and up). Anyone age 5 to 10 is half price. Anyone 4 and under are free.

So now I have the fun task of going through our guest list with my 3 different colored high lighters and highlighting the guests based on how old they will be at the reception and add up the numbers in each "category".

Yay....

  • Sounds like fun! [sarcasm sign]

  • Lol. Oh yeah. I am seeing a lot more of the pink (adult) then I am the other 2 combined lol
  • Thats how we spent our weekend last week! Our venue, who also does the catering, requires that we have a certain amount of guest at a minimum of $20 a person. Kid 4-9 are 1/2 off and kids 0-3 are free, so we spent a long time going through the catering menu and figuring out how many adult meals, 1/2 off meals, and free meals we had. Fun times... o_O

  • If you think that's fun, you're going to love doing the seating chart.

  • hahaha. We only have over 21 and under 21 so I've been facebook stalking my college cousins to figure out if they'll hit 21 by then. We do have one young cousin (7) and we asked if he wanted a kids meal or steak and he said STEAK! I looked at his mom, and she said he'd eat it. So he is getting the adult meal too.
  • @hlvonb didnt say somewhere in other posts that you were from Wisco? If so do you mind if I ask you where your venue is? I am always curious about other wisco brides visions since things are so diverse with the seasons around here.
  • I haven't made it that far on the list yet but thank you for bringing that to my attention!

    And the seating chart is going to be crazy as well! My MOH is in Texas, my mom is in Illinois, and I'll be in South Carolina (moving there and wedding location). We don't drink and neither do most of our guests so we are skipping the bar issue.

    Still narrowing down our venue, then comes the catering dilemmas.

    Good luck to all of you!
  • We have a similar situation with our pricing.  I put everything in a google spreadsheet from the beginning, and it's been a lifesaver!

  • I'm not going to lie, I'm a color-coding whore.

    I color code my planner. In college, I'd rewrite all my notes to be color-coded. I color coded our guest list. It gives me a buzz just thinking about it. (Kidding...sort of.)

    I made an awesome Liz Lemon loving office supplies gif and then am not technically savvy enough to put it in this post.

    :(

    ETA:  I still can't do it and it makes me sad.
  • Oh wow, I can't imagine having to do that on paper...my eyes would bleed!

    Have you considered putting your guest list into Excel or something similar? It can highlight (or even count!) the adults for you with a few equations.
    @MrsKleespies

    Lol. I thought about that but at this point it would be more work for me to do that then to just highlight them since the guest list is printed out (off of TK) and I don't want to add 200 names and ages into excel.

    @severmilli12

    That's very similar to ours.

    11 and up = adult
    5 to 10 = half price
    4 and under = free

    @MairePoppy

    We're not doing a seating chart

    Yes I am from Wisconsin. Our venue is in Racine, WI.
