Not over packing

Be for too long I'm going to start my shopping for my honeymoon we are going to st lucia I am horrible at over packing and I'm going to try and avoid that... Does any body have any tips on what they brought for their honey moon how many bathing suits dresses shoes .. We are going to do some zip lining and adventure things should I bring shorts or pants I'm already stressing on bring too much or not enough.. I know I can ask my hotel but if anybody on here knows do they use the same outlets as the us for hair dryers and what not or if they supply them?

Re: Not over packing

  • How long will you be there for? Your hotel probably gas hair dryers. Ask them. I like wearing Capri yoga pants for zip lines

  • We are going for a week that's a good idea I didn't even think of that

I have a standard packing list for an 8 day/7 night tropical trip in the link above my siggy pic (click link, click travel tips, left hand side click tropical climate packing list) once in the list if you look to the right where it says downloads, you can click on standard packing list.xls and down load it so you can customize it to your needs(will need excel or something that can open excel docs). I've used this list for all our trips (St. Lucia the 2nd time, Cancun both times, Antigua, Jamaica and our three times to Key West). We each have one standard size suitecase plus his laptop bag and my back pack.

You might also want to check out the section I have in travel tips titled "packing". HTH

PS: As for hair dryers they are generally supplied by the hotel and as for electricity/outlets in SL, it's the same as the US.
  • I was there in October.  I brought my own hair dryer/straightener and had no problem using them.  I would pack one outfit for dinner (I wore a dress/skirt each night), and a pair of shorts/yoga pants for zip lining.  I think I wore capri yoga pants and a t shirt when we went.  I brought 3 bathing suits and a couple of cover ups and lived in those all week!

For zip-lining, either bring long shorts or pants.  Sometimes, those harnesses can chafe your legs or make your shorts ride up higher than you are comfortable with.

As for adventure things, think about what you'll be doing.  Will it be buggy?  Will you be walking through any brush/long grass/?  You'll definitely wants pants in those two instances.  Consider getting convertible pants, the kind where the legs zip off to become shorts.  Some brands have both roll up and zip-off features so you can have pants, capris and two lengths of shorts in one.

For swimsuits, I would only take one, but that's me.  I know lots of people prefer more than one so if you go swimming more than once, you don't have to put a wet suit back on.

Think about mix and match things rather than separate outfits.  How long is your honeymoon?  For dresses, estimate how many times you think you'll be going out to a nice dinner.  Twice a week?  Once?  You can always shake up an LBD by changing out the accessories and re-wearing it.
  • Yup, I wear my bikini bottoms as undies. That or, the real undies I have I wash in the sink and let dry over night . It really depends on where you're going and what you're doing. I've just found that most of the time I don't need undies because I'm in my bikini as most of the excursions we do center around some kind of water activity.
  • lol @jennja22 I was thinking the same exact thing when it comes to undies, bras, and even bathing suits in that area I would rather have to much then not enough .. you could always wash them but I don't know on that one.. I didn't even think about mix matching things I will def have to do that most of the time I will wear my jean shorts twice cause on that second day they fit so much better!

@monkeygirl18  Yeah, that makes sense.  But, if we are going to the beach at 10am and coming back at 6pm, I still need something to wear before & after that!

Oh most definitely. That's why I have two bikinis and two pairs of undies. I just wash stuff in the sink(which I understand could be kinda ehhh.., for some) that way there is always some form of a bottom clean and dry. I have lace undies so at least they dry fast :) The nice thing about undies though is they're squishable so they are easy to pack if you want more. For me, the only thing that sucks is putting on stiff undies :) I much prefer them from the dryer as opposed to "line dried".

    Lol, I'm the same way.
