Hobbit Proposal

I'm buying my boyfriend's ring next month and its the "one ring". I was thinking of placing it in a hollowed out part of the Hobbit since its his favourite book.

How should I do this so he doesn't catch on?

Do it when he's not home / around. Maybe have it shipped to your parents house (if you close enough where it would be easy to get it) or a friends house.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm thinking of sending him hints in the mail for 3 months (just 3 hints), and then propose when we are out at a nice park. Roommate has even agreed to film his reaction. xD

Just a suggestion - maybe don't use his actual book?  I get attached to my favourite books, and I would hate to see any of them get wrecked . . . but if he's not that type, then no worries!
Cool idea, though! My FI proposed with a Lord of the Rings theme.
