Newly Engaged - Venue Help!

Hi! I'm newly engaged and looking to be married in quite some time (Spring 2016). My fiance will be in medical school in Scranton, PA around this time, so we are trying to keep costs down. I'm from the Hudson Valley, NY and he is from NEPA area, so we're trying to merge the two areas and meet around Scranton. Either location would mean a 4 hour plus drive for the guests. My father will be catering the wedding, so I'm trying to find a venue that allows outside catering to keep costs down. I'm a vintage/rustic bride, so I would like a less traditional venue if possible. Any suggestions?! Thank you!

As a rule of thumb, a "less traditional" venue often costs MORE since you will most likely need to rent tables, chairs, linens, flatware, plates/cups, etc....Traditional venues like hotels and country clubs may not be as exciting, but they are used to doing weddings and usually have everything on hand.
