Hi
Ladies,
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Congrats
on all the new engagements & upcoming weddings!
I’m
Knottie from Aug 2013 – our wedding day was amazing as I am sure all yours have
been & will be
Just
wanted to write a quick review for Addison Park venue – my husband and I attended
a wedding there just this past Saturday (Jan. 4, 2014) it was an absolutely
amazing wedding and we had a blast!
From
our experience as being guests at our friends’ wedding – I just wanted to say
Addison Park is such an elegant and gorgeous venue! It was a beautiful wedding
filled with love & happiness.
Due
to being winter – obviously their ceremony was inside – I can only imagine how
the outside ceremonies will capture the beautiful grounds. The indoor room was elegant
but very simple (this was up to the bride & groom and their decisions to
decorate or not). Their ceremony was sweet and so filled with love
The only downside was: the heat was full blast on –
again I can appreciate it given it’s been the coldest January yet – but it got
rather uncomfortably hot in there. Also, side note: same for the reception – they
were very much blasting the heat throughout the night – even the bride
complained a few times.
The
cocktail hour was delicious and simply amaaaaazing! We were in such awe – there
was SO much food and it was all so delicious – they had all the food
carts/varieties beautifully placed in a “U” shape alongside the wall &
there were plenty of smaller cocktail tables (fits 6 tightly but more like 5
comfortably) + they had designated larger table for “the bride’s family” & “the
grooms family” (I’m not sure if it was a standard but this is the first time I paid
attention to in a wedding and thought it was genius) There was such an
abundance of delicious and different food – they had stations of everything you
can imagine. There was 1 bar w/ 2 bartenders and they were friendly and were
handling the crowd very quickly – there wasn’t a wait for a drink at all! They
also had a signature drink preset and ready to be grabbed from the bar – cute idea!
We were eating a ton at the cocktail hour & the room fit everyone
spaciously and roomy without feeling crowded – also the bartenders handled
everything very quickly & efficiently – we totally loved it!
The
reception followed in what I believe is referred to as their “black&white
room” it is an absolutely exquisite ballroom that is elegant and gorgeous with
chandeliers draping the ceilings and black & white floor pattern
(absolutely no carpet!) Their tables were 10 people per table with a gorgeous
winter-y centerpiece of vase w/ glass diamond pieces & white tree branches
draped w/ glass diamond pieces! Absolutely winter wonderland! The only thing
about this reception is the ballroom is absolutely gorgeous on its own – the couple
added up lighting which was fun and great – however – since the room is so “white-ish”
the up lighting really drowned all the beautiful details and the colors they chose
(purple/pinkish) very much took over the room – it was just too strong of a
color since the white room truly absorbed it – if it was toned down and not as
bright it would be a huge difference. (i included a picture taken w/ my iphone) The main course included a champagne
toast (they use Verdi champagne which is absolutely delicious & one of my
favorites!) followed by soup or penne vodka, followed by the main dish: choice
of prime rib, chicken, salmon, or vegetables (we had a vegetarian at a table
and he wished there was a different choice such as risotto or pasta since he
just had all vegetables from the cocktail hour) which I thought was a helpful
review to add into this
Dinner was followed by lots of dancing & wedding
cake w/ dessert. My husband and I both had prime rib – this was the largest
prime rib ever lol it was a bit dry but still good – def. be prepared for a
very generous portion of meat! The wedding cake and the dessert trays were very
yummy. Also, because the floor is non-carpeted thru the whole ballroom – it was
surprisingly easy to dance on – I was worried I’d be slipping around in my
heels but however magically they clean it – it wasn’t “slip and fall on my arse”
type of floor which was a relief!
Just
another quick note – there were 2 bars in the ballroom and each bartender made
it a point to come up to each table, introduce himself and take an initial order
of drinks which was very wonderful so there wasn’t a big snake line build up at
the bar! Also throughout the night, we were def. made feel very important as
guests – we were asked if everything was good and if there was anything we may
need.
Our friends had the cutest wedding favors - highly recommend them if anyone is looking for ideas: they had stem-less wine glasses etched with bride & groom penquins + their names + their wedding day! Very sweet, practical gifts that we will def use in the future!
We
had an amazing time celebrating our friends’ wedding – it was a beautiful
gorgeous venue and a really fun time! I wanted to review it from a guest’s
perspective for any future brides who may have chosen Addison Park: 1) Please
take care of your vegetarian guests 2) make sure you speak up about the
temperature of the venue 3) depending on the room please consider how
uplighting will truly look the day of 4) have a blast as the day flies by! 5)
take a moment to enjoy all this – it’s a once in a lifetime experience!
