Engagement Announcement

Please help me with the wording of our engagement announcement for our local newspaper.

My father passed away in 2006 and my mother is remarried. My mom would be announcing the engagement, but I don't want to leave my step dad out. I also want to include my deceased father. AND Fiance is in same situation. His father has also passed away and his mother has remarried.

Do I put "Mrs. MyMom and Mr. MyStepdad announce the engagement of their daughter, Bride, to Groom, son of Mrs. HisMom and His Stepdad. Bride is also the daughter of the late MyDad. Groom is also the son of the late HisDad."?

TIA

Sounds good to me. I don't know how else you'd word it.

ETA: Wait, just thought of something.. if wives switched to the new name, you can do Mr. and Mrs. stepfather's name and his last name instead.

  • I guess I feel weird being called the daughter of my step dad.

I understand that, but at the same time, if you want him included I think it would be even more weird to put step-daughter or him at the end. You could always just have your mom on it.

    This is what I have

"MyMom and MyStepdad announce the engagement of their daughter, BRIDE to GROOM, the son of HisMom and HisStepdad. Bride, also the daughter of the late MyDad is a granddaughter of Grandparents of Aiken, SC. She is employed by MyJob. Groom, also the son of the late HisDad of Bethpage, NY, is a maternal grandson of ThoseGrandparents of Levittown, NY and a paternal grandson of OtherGrandparents. The groom-elect is student at College studying psychology and is employed by HisJob."

  • @CMGragain Help is needed!

She is great with official wordings, she will help you out!

  • @missax That is technically grammatically correct, but the sentence is very long and may prove difficult for some people to read.

tabathafaye  If you don't want to be listed as your stepfather's daughter, try this:
"Mrs TF's Mom, wife of TF's Stepdad, is proud to announce the engagement of TF to Groom. Bride is also the daughter of Father. Groom is the son of the late HisFather and HisMother, and stepson to HisStepDad."

  • What about something like :

Mrs. Mother and Mr. Stepdad announce the engagement of Ms. Jane Smith,
daughter of Mrs. Mother and the late Mr. Father, to Mr. John Doe, son of Mrs. Hismother and Mr. Hisstepfather and the late Mr. Hisfather.

  • Do it as separate sentences.

Mr. And Mrs. Stepfather announce the engagement of her daughter, Your Name, to FI.

She is also the daughter of the late Your Dad.

Then for your FI, write, 'Groom is the son of Stepfather and Mother and the late Father.'
