Wedding Invitations & Paper

Can I send the wedding invitations before the Bridal shower/ Jack & Jill

My wedding is April 5th, the venue requires 3 weeks notice on final guest count. My dad wants 2 weeks before the venue requires the count to call up people who didn't RSVP. The Jack and Jill ( both men and women invited to bridal shower) is February 16th. I would like to send the wedding invitations out last week January/first week of February to give people plenty of time to rsvp. I was told by my MOH that it is rude to send wedding invitations before the Jack and Jill because people haven't even attended the first event. Since the reception requires 3 weeks I'm afraid we are not giving ourselves enough time to do seating charts, finalize the guest count, etc. I also don't know when to make the wedding RSVP date. Help! Advice!

Re: Can I send the wedding invitations before the Bridal shower/ Jack & Jill

  • First of all, I don't think you need a full 2 weeks to chase down non-RSVP'ers. I'd give yourself a week and let people when you follow up on their lack of response that you need their answer by ___ date or you'll unfortunately have to mark them as a no.

If your wedding is April 5th, you should be sending out your invitations the first week of February at the earliest (6-8 weeks in advance is the appropriate norm), meaning your shower invitations should have already gone out.

This is a non-issue. Just send your wedding invitations at the appropriate time. I haven't heard any rules like your MOH's on sending wedding invites before shower invites. Shower invites are almost always received before the wedding invite just because of the timing of the two events.

  • I've received a shower invite, after the wedding invite before.  And I've definitely received a few wedding invites before the shower actually happened. Your MOH is incorrect. Send your invites when you planned to.
