Historical Homes/Museums Venue Ideas

Help! We're looking for a list of historical homes/estates that could be a possible ceremony/venue site for our wedding September 2015. We plan on having an intimate wedding of 60 people max - but really like the idea of having a tented outdoor wedding with cocktail hour inside the house/estate.

We've toured two places so far - the Whittemore-Robbins House in Arlington, MA and the Pierce House in Lincoln, MA. Out of the two, the Whittemore-Robbins seems far more flexible with what kind of tent size we can put up. The exterior of the Pierce House was amazing - but you must use their tent which accomodates up to 200 guests. It seems silly to pay for a huge tent that we would use a quarter of the space in.

If anyone has had any luck with historical venues - please post!

Check this list http://anewenglandwedding.blogspot.com/2013/05/wedding-photography.html I'm using Endicott Estate which holds 150 inside. Bradley estate is nice for smaller groups. Charles River Museum of Industry in Waltham is more modern.

I would say check out the Stevens Estate in North Andover, the grounds are lovely and I am pretty sure they are flexible with tent sizes.

I have been to a wedding at the Endicott Estate in Dedham and it was stunning. Also, Hammond Castle in Gloucester is absolutely beautiful. I have never seen a wedding there but I have visited a few times and it is right on the water and very pretty.

@Mitch617 - that blog has TONS of wedding venues! I've looked over a couple of them and many are outside of our budget but definitely a great resource to have.

I've sent some inquiries to a couple other venues in hopes to find somewhere that is flexible with tent sizing.

@kelciegorman- yes I loved that list, especially with the prices and capacities listed for many of the venues! It's where I found my venue, Endicott Estate, which is way prettier in person than in that blog pic. @amandaj424- glad to hear the Endicott wedding was stunning! It's the only venue I looked seriously at.

Endicott Estate is very nice (and affordable), and a good size for your wedding. I've been to two weddings there. Hammond Castle looks amazing, but definitely would have been small for my wedding.  They do have a lot of stairs according to website so elderly guests may have difficulty getting to the venue.
