XP: Intro and questions re: planning on short notice

Hi everyone,
I'm visiting from The Bump.

My dude and I have been together for years and were planning a more traditional wedding this year in our hometown of Philly. As it turns out, I (happily) got pregnant a little faster than expected, so we are now looking to do a quickie ceremony -- he suggested we do so in Vegas just so it's a little more fun than a trip to city hall and we get a babymoon in as well.

I'm looking for any advice on how to do this as quick and cheap as possible while maintaing some modicum of good taste.

If we do Vegas, our plan is to fly out just the two of us, do a VERY simple wedding with minimal cheese (i.e. no singing Elvis as the minister) and then relax for a few days before heading home. We'd be looking at something in late Feb. to March. Budget is flexible -- we aren't pinching pennies, but we aren't looking to make this a huge, expensive event. We want low-key and relaxed.

Any recommendations or suggestions are welcome.

  • Congratulations!  The idea sounds great.  One of my friends had their wedding at Mandalay Bay in the Valley of the Falls location, and it was fantastic.  You might get a few more suggestions if you try posting on the local board for Las Vegas.  Good luck! :)
